I'm at 16 inches and counting. Not going to stop until tonight so we will probably hit two feet.

I just saw 54 for Friday

According to the NWS 10 day forecast, it's supposed to be 57 next Sat., 60 a week from tomorrow and 62 Mon. (Feb. 1st) in Corbin. Typical unpredictable Ky. weather.

Still snowing here. But it is winding down. This storm became the 2nd highest total for Dulles Airport at 28 inches. I live about 10 miles north of Dulles and I would say I have about that amount at my house. I dug out my walkway this afternoon but it has been covered back up. My vehicle is buried. I hope I can get it dug out tomorrow or at least partially anyway. This area will be nearly paralyzed for a few days. I expect the Feds to shutdown Monday and maybe Tuesday too. Metro shutdown their buses and rails for the entire weekend and will make a decision about Monday sometime tomorrow. The big dig will start early tomorrow and will take a few days.

I cannot imagine what it's like to live in a place like that. We have 10 in. here and I'm dreading what's ahead of me. We have a long driveway that widens out quite a bit in front of the (three car) garage. Plus, I'm afraid the sleet and/or freezing rain that preceded the snow probably has the garage door frozen to the driveway. I'm retired, and would like to let nature take care of it, but my wife will probably have to work tomorrow. I guess it's me and the snow shovel against the snow.

Thanks, BH. I just happened to think that one of my friends, who lives up the street, has a tractor. I'm going to call him, in a few minutes, and see if he can come down and clean it for me.

Officially Dulles had 29.2 inches. 2nd biggest in history. I'm sure I have that and more at my house. Bright and sunny today. A good day for digging out snow.

Well the driveway has been dug out.. The last three feet of which was hard packed ice that the city snow plows push into my drive to clear the street...

After 12 years of living on a fall way lot with a big turn about in the back, hubby bought a snow blower last summer. Has been a BIG help. What took both of us hours to do, took him less than an hour and he does my neighbor's driveway. Yay for snow blowers.

It's 36 degrees and sunny here in Corbin. My Sat. receiver has thawed out and my neighbor brought his tractor down and spent about an hour and a half on my driveway, so all's right with my little world again.

Thought about investing in one myself. It's hard though to commit to that in the Louisville area. Would take PLENTY of snows before it paid for itself.

Glad to hear this MD. We old guys have to be careful shoveling this stuff. I still do it,but take a lot of breaks.
