    Inclement Weather

We currently have about three inches of snow, here in Corbin, and it's still coming down. It's supposed to change over to sleet or freezing rain later on today. My advice is to stay home if you can. If you can't, allow extra time and be very careful. Stay warm and safe fellow WCN'ers.

My favorite season when we do get measurable snow. Took me 90 minutes to get to work, but it was essentially uneventful. If I had to drive Snyder or Watterson, I'd probably be ready to hang somebody.

Anywhere from 4 to 8 inches predicted for Friday morning.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Took an hour and a half to Frankfort out of Louisville. Snyder was bad but I-64 was uncharacteristically bad as well. Almost no difference between 64 and US 60 where I drive in to the capital.

I-65 was in decent shape considering. Only slow down (15-20 mph) was at the Watterson interchange, where the ramps were backed up onto northbound 65. Otherwise, speed of 40-45 was the norm.

That is the biggest problem. The idiots who think they are immune because of their big trucks or suv's.
Yeah they go great. don't stop any better in the snow though...

There are idiots on the other end of the spectrum as well. I-65 north from Watterson to the Eastern Blvd in Clarksville, a guy held the left lane at 15-20 mph when 40 was safely negotiable.

This is the time of year when working from home is really convenient.

This is also when I love working at a university. Classes and offices are closed today, and probably tomorrow. Maybe even the rest of the week. We have quite a bit of snow here. I'd say we're up to five, six inches and counting by now.

My students will hate me after this. We continue classes through the school's online hub, and they wind up doing more work than they would've had we been in class. The ones who normally keep their heads down can't hide in this situation.

Pish-posh on six inches of snow. Try having a blizzard with 18 to 24 or more inches snow. That's what I'm expecting in northern Virginia starting Friday afternoon and into the weekend.

When I was growing up in Western Ky, we lived way out of town on a gravel road. Unlike today, we sometimes didn't get word of schools being closed until we walked out to catch the bus, and it didn't come. But, when we got back home and thawed out, we popped corn and played Rook or Rummy all day. Not bad back then.

                            Where do you teach, Downes?

My poor wife had a pretty bad fender bender yesterday morning, so she's driving my car to work today. Suffice to say, I was sweating it until I heard from her that she made it safe and sound.

That plus the fact that my area has seen so little really deep snow over the past two or three decades that a lot of the younger people don't know how to drive in it.
