In honor of their reunion tour, I've been listening quite a bit to Oasis' catalog. Focusing more on some of their lesser-known tunes like 'Acquiescence', 'Don't Go Away', 'Some Might Say', et al, rather than 'Champagne Supernova', 'Don't Look Back in Anger' and 'Wonderwall'. I'd love to see them live but they're not coming anywhere near where I live and I have a deep abhorrence to attending a huge stadium show (if I wanted to watch a band on CCTV, I'd just stream it from home).
I read (and don't quote me on the exact amounts) that, during their last tour in '09, the band made about $750k/show. They're expected to make about 10X that amount for each show this time around. I understand inflation but I don't think many things have appreciated 1000% in 16 years like entertainment. I would guess they'll finally 'break' big in the US after all these years (although their 'failure' in the US is only deemed a failure in comparison to how wildly popular they were in the UK, Europe, S. America and Asia).Comment

The Masterplan should have been their third record: nobody recorded album quality b sides like early Oasis.
Cocaine and hubris led to the mess that was Be Here Now, but even that record has its charms under the hundreds of guitar overdubs.
After that, it was all pretty hideous, give or take a track here or there. My buddy actually has tickets to the LA reunion show later this year. Asked me if I wanted to go, but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money to see a band who hasn't even spoken to one another for fifteen years.👍 1Comment
