Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ronnie Van Zant gives a brief intro to the song. What a great songwriter…

Southern Rock is one of my favorite genres of music. SR produced some great bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Bros., Blackfoot, the Marshall Tucker Band and 38 Special among others.

Yes Sir! And Im gonna throw in Charlie Daniels.

Now days, country music seems to have left their roots and took over the southern rock genre. I think it hurt both sides. Not so much with Gospel. You still have the country and Southern Gospel and then, what I call, contemporary.

I guess I can listen to about anything if it has a good message. I noticed you like country gospel. Have you ever heard this one?

I haven't heard that. My main period of interest is the 50's, 60's and 70's. There's not much I care for once you leave the 70's coming forward. Going the other way, I can go back to the late 1800's and early 1900's with artists like Scott Joplin playing Ragtime piano. I also like to listen to the Big Band sound of bands like Dorsey, Miller, Goodman etc. I like some of the country music from the 40's as well.

Wow, that’s awesome. If I had to pick a favorite decade, I would have to go with the 70s. Do you play any kind instrument or sing?

I was gonna post a short video of some friends and me doing a little picking but it looks like there is a low file size limit for uploads.

Regrettably I don't sing or play. As they say, I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. As for playing, by the time I felt the urge, I was married and didn't seem to have the time to learn.

A little history of The Guess Who. They were a Canadian band who listed among their early members Randy Bachman later of Bachman Turner Overdrive and Burton Cummins who had a solo hit with the song "Stand Tall".
