Gotta think that we've got Diallo locked since he cancelled his Arizona visit.
Matt Jones said in his Periscope tonight that the staff feels VERY good about Kevin Knox, and that if they locked him, they'd go hard after Bamba to be a part of the "super class."
Could you imagine a recruiting class of (essentially): Mohamed Bamba, Kevin Knox, Hamidou Diallo, PJ Washington, Jarred Vanderbilt, Nick Richards and Quade Green?
Good Lord.Comment

Cal's the man.Comment

I've been seeing some things indicating Diallo will enroll in the spring but not play until 17-18. I guess he doesn't intend on entering the next NBA draft?Comment

This is an uneven class on the whole. Not like last year at all in terms of how that class was pretty stacked all across the top 25. But Bamba, Knox, and Diallo are all game-changers. Put those three together with the others, and possibly a returning Wenyen Gabriel...
That would be SEVEN five-star players if that happens.

Plus Humphries and Sacha. Can you imagine what those practices will be like? We might see the platoons again. Are people expecting Diallo to actually play next year or go pro after this season?

His decision should tell us all we need to know: he picks UCONN, he enters the next draft; he picks Kentucky, he plays college ball next year.
Cal wouldn't jeopardize his standing with other guards in next year's class if he thought even for a minute that Diallo would be out the door come May.Comment

Don't think so either.
It's another reason I don't think he'll play this year.
Cal probably wouldn't want him to have a couple of big games--and let's face it: that's pretty much all it takes in Chad Ford's world--and get froggy about jumping.
Much better to just hold him back, let him practice, and then bring him out next year. This team has some needs but they're certainly not dire. Next year's team without a top-shelf 2 is a lot more sketchy.Last edited by Joneslab; 01-05-2017, 09:06 AM.Comment

Are Knox and Bamba really that good? Like, game changing good? I don't know much more about them than highlight videos.Comment

I don't know as much about Knox other than what I've read, but what I've read says he's a beast.
I know a little more about Bamba and have seen him play (once).
He's really good.Comment

He will essentially be a vet at Kentucky if he practices and learns the system this semester. You're 100% correct that it wouldn't take much more than a few 25 point games for him to shoot up the draft boards. This team's biggest need is a shooter. He doesn't offer much help in that department so it would make sense to let him sit.

Bamba looks like a legitimate Davis comparison with the way he can step out and handle the ball a little.Comment

Knox is huge and he can dominate the court. He's a bull towards the rim and he's got explosive athleticism.
I'm not sure how great of an outside shooter he is, but he's a game changer in every way.Comment
