It's mind boggling what's going on. It's not like Kansas has done anything impressive lately, but Self sure does seem to get kids to pick him over Cal other than Randle.

Just speculating but maybe the kids were tired of hearing about Kentucky on every media and they saw that UK couldn't win the championship with all the talent they had and decided to go elsewhere. Just trying to make sense of the recruiting scene.

Sometimes you can be overexposed. Maybe with all of that exposure with the Pursuit of Perfection and then the season ending the way it did just turned off some of these kids. No idea if this is the case. Just throwing it out there as a possible reason.
        Kentucky fan since 1971.

The only downside of losing Vick is that you miss on a player who could've been a body this year and would likely be a solid multi-year guy. Otherwise he probably wasn't going to play much unless he could have beaten out both Matthews and Willis.

Per Jerry Meyer Vick was concerned about Swanigan coming and pushing Poythress to a wing. IF that's true, then it might be a good sign on that front.

Swanigan isn't going to burn the world down if he comes to Kentucky. From the little I've seen I think he's a flawed player who's going to need some time. But he'd be a huge addition simply because we need players like him and we have an obvious and significant need for frontcourt depth.

If that's true than it would be great news. I've also said before that Swanigan is far from an impact player, but he would be crucial to the needs of next years team. And unless he really improved quickly I could see him as a 3-4 year guy.

We've speculated on a variety of reasons as to why we have missed on quite a few recruits. Is it possible that another reason might of been they just didn't want to play with Isaiah Briscoe? The only reason that came to mind is because word has it Isaiah can be pretty brash at times, and tends to boast about himself being the best this and that and so on, and maybe that could of rubbed some of the other recruits the wrong way.

Some, perhaps, but I would not think this is the reason they all turned UK down.

You never know but a lot of these guys are brash. I've never seen too many athletes who were good enough to play at this level who wasn't pretty ****************y and wasn't afraid to tell people about it.

                  Alex Poythress types are rare.

I agree. I think it was a compilation of different reasons for each guy. Just something that came to mind

Yeah, I'm glad he's one of ours and confident in his game. I was just trying to think if there was possibly an underlining reason that we don't know, or think of. KAT was like Alex in that respect also. He was more outward than Alex is, but also very humble. I think he's going to end up being a great NBA big man.

Supposedly Jamaal Murray took an official visit to Kentucky yesterday.

Ben Roberts@NextCats · 4h 4 hours ago Five-star guard Jamal Murray is currently on an official visit to UK, according to @Elias_NPH. Possible 2015 addition.

I read articles in the H-L, this morning, that pointed out something I had not thought of. Since they're from a foreign country (Canada), Maker and Murray could return to h.s., this fall, and enter the NBA draft next spring.

In Murray's case in particular it would be a bad move. You're totally hidden in Canada playing against subpar competition. The only thing scouts would have to go on is the one Hoop Summit game.

I sincerely doubt that's the way he'll play it. Better chance that he stays in the '16 class and then plays a year in college.

And that's pretty big news, BTW.

Even before Malik Newman, before Jaylen Brown, before Caleb Swanigan, Murray is the guy that intrigues me most and would fit the best with this team.

Straight-up baller who would take this team to an iffy top 20ish team to a top 10 type of team in one fell swoop.

Fingers crossed that the staff can get a commitment before he leaves. I felt like Oregon signing the JUCO kid this past weekend might have been a sign with Murray.
