I think this was a recruiting class that simply was a mixture of guys who wanted to stay close to home, and guys who wanted to go to a school where they would be the man, and the only man. I know some might think well California has Ivan Rabb, yeah, but still Brown will be the main man.
Either these kids are all just mentally challenged or something weird is going on in the recruiting circles....I am just bewildered, shocked, dumbfounded as to how none of these kids come to UK in the spring....
Cal has missed on the following, all in the last few weeks. Really shocking to see a list this long. Just one, one of them would have been a HUGE pickup, and we get nothing....
Bryant
Swanigan
Newman
Diallo
Ingram
Zimmerman
Brown
Kentucky loses kids every year, and most of the time the reason given is playing time. Not points scored or rebounds or any stat, but simply time on the court. Although 'Calipari stated there would be no platoons coming up, the big push the media and Cal made about it took hold.... and that just doesn't row every kid's boat.
Good luck to all of em. We have a fairly formidable group....and likely a bit better than the team with B. Knight and company. That one did ok.
We get to see what some of these guys can do now that it's their turn.
Could be a fun season.
Could be a down one.
Just basketball, UK style. We all get to find out soon enough. Hope all our players are cleared, qualify, and healthy. Then we get to see where the chips fall.

Something crazy is going on
Poor choice of words. I'm sure it was in jest, but to say these guys are mentally challenged for going to somewhere other than UK is pretty unnecessary.
Anyone else considering that Cal REALLY may have shot a few things in the butt by fumbling away a title last year?
Let's face it, the guy had an undeniable collection of overall talent. His mantra of playing for each other and all that sounds REALLY great, but the team that played for each other was watching Wisconsin and Duke play the championship game.
I mean, what's the point of self sacrifice if the end result of it isn't anything that the other coaches can promise? "Hey, come here and you might win a championship."
IF we somehow get Murray and Maker to come aboard we'll be fine. If we don't we'll have a good team that'll probably lose 10-11 games and make it to the sweet sixteen. Something along those lines
I am starting to wonder if Cal's way of doing things with the team he had this year exploited him??? If Kentucky would have won it all this year, it would have totally validated the way he does it. Cal still has top NBA guys he's coached to show for and not all is lost with Bricsoe and Skal. Still, guys like Dakari Johnson and maybe even Booker leaving really put a cramp on things this year. We still have good players and guys like Willis, Hawkins, Lee, and Poythrees have to play the way they are all expected to play this season. In some ways, kinda makes you wish that Wiltjer would have stayed and redshirted one year.
Oh well, this team ought to be fun to watch and i like the fact that we are more of a underdog coming into this season. Most other big name teams and reloading as well and Cal seems to do a pretty good job at getting his top guys to get up to speed pretty quick. Hopefully he realized the situation and will push guys like Willis and Hawkins hard this offseason to do everything they can do to be prepared to help. As crazy as this may sound, some of the guys we missed on may have looked at our roster and could have felt that it was 50/50 if they could play over some of the guys we already have. Poythrees is still a MAN whether it be the 3 or the 4 and Skal/Lee could be handy this year. I am a little worried if Willis is stuck in the post because i don't think he has the game to play with his back against the basket. Our guard play is solid and Mattews was considered a top 20 player until he got injured. If Mulder was truly a top 10 guy out of Canada, that says alot because the Canadiens are starting to produce some very good basketball players the past couple of years.
All in all, we are good and i am not worried about it. If we can somehow land some kind of serviceable big body, i think we will be fine......
No. Kentucky's lost recruits to teams that didn't make the NCAA Tournament.
These kids don't care about that at all. They want to play.
Just a strange class. Mississippi State, Cal, UNLV--weirdness.
It's called money. While all eyes on are Calipari and Kentucky to make sure these kids aren't recieving under the table benefits, others schools are having a field day lol lo lol ...
Now i don't really believe this to be true and it's a joke but on the other hand, you never know!!!!!!!!!!
