    What a moment for him.

Makes me immediately think of how unbelievable his dad was in that Stanford Final Four game in '98. Good Lord what a performance.

I'm sure most people feel this way about where they come from, but as Matt can attest, there really does seem to be something special about coming from EKY. I'm from Bell Co., and there's a regional pride that I just don't see everywhere else.

Let me step in here and say that I too have pride seeing Sheppard to commit to Kentucky. BUT I will say, with all completely fake humility, that London, Kentucky, is...maybe not true eastern Kentucky. I've spent a decent amount of time in London. That town is Manhattan compared to the town I grew up in.

I ain't taking anything away from Reed and he's a Kentucky boy like we are. But Richie Farmer in Clay County this ain't.

Now when Joe Bub from Vicco commits in the class of 2034, then we can say we reeled in a true eastern Kentucky dirtball.

Never knew you were from Bell, Downes. I suppose you’re familiar with football coach Dudley Hilton? He’s from my hometown. I graduated with his daughter. She’s a super person.

I75 probably took some Appalachia out of London decades ago.

Oh yeah. My family knows the Hiltons pretty well. I was a student at Bell during what I believe was his second stint there as HC. Guy's a legend.

I am 606 and will be until the day I keel over.

Also, I like to watch PBS and I cried when Jenny died in Forrest Gump. I'm also terrified of mice.

Entirely possible that I think of McCreary County more as Southern or South-Central KY....

Vicco. Ah, yes, Vicco. When I began my clinical rotations the first was psychiatry at Hazard ARH and on the radio they were advertising Vicco Days. I didn't partake but I imagine I really missed out on an exciting time. Also the mayor of Vicco at the time, Johnny Cummings, made a somewhat humorous appearance on the Colbert Report.

Apologies. I should've said "As Matt AND GQ Will can attest..."

I've associated you with the Louisville area for so long that I forgot you came up in EKY. Which county again? I want to say Breathitt...

McCreary. Traditionally the second (or third) poorest county in Kentucky and one of the poorest in the US.

A lot of times it goes Owsley, McCreary, Clay. Sometimes it's Owsley, Clay, McCreary.

I used to hate my hometown but have grown a weird appreciation for it. Wouldn't want to live there but I like visiting. Now that my parents are both dead I don't get down as much as I did, but it's still home.

We are a churchy bunch, though. Churches errywhere.
