He’s not extending an open invitation to all of EKY to pull a fast one in front of them.👍 1Comment

Met a guy from Arkansas this past summer while vacationing in Mexico. He knew a surprising amount about Arkansas basketball--and in fact Kentucky basketball. He said the Monk thing was totally crazy and that Arkansas fans really felt like he trolled them.
It would be weird for Sheppard to do that given that his dad seems like a stand-up guy, but when you're dealing with young athletes sometimes things get goofy.Comment

Would be really weird...but then I think about Malik Monk.

Plus, choosing Kentucky is about as good a reason as there is to break your home state’s collective heart, so the Monk thing isn’t exactly apples to apples. If you’re Reed, you don’t destroy your reputation just to downgrade. Not to mention the NIL opportunities for him in KY vs. friggin’ UVA.
Come on. Kid will be a millionaire before he’s a sophomore if he goes to Kentucky.Last edited by George; 11-19-2021, 12:44 PM.👍 1Comment

I took some pretty good thumpings back in high school in the gym where Reed Sheppard is announcing. (Actually at the time, North Laurel was just getting started. South Laurel was the powerhouse. They'd beat us by 50. Before the schools split they were just "Laurel County," which is where Paul Andrews played when he hit the famous shot in the Sweet Sixteen. Laurel County is also where Reed Sheppard's mom Stacy played.)
North Laurel had a pitcher who signed with UK one year. He struck me out four times in a game looking each time. I retaliated by hitting him with a pitch.
Before Sheppard, North Laurel's claim to fame in basketball is that they had a kid named Daniel Dillon one year. They got him from Australia. He went on to sign with Arizona.Comment

Watching the ceremony right now and it's hard not to feel very proud. They're handling this just as maturely and professionally as you could expect, and it's a proud moment for EKY.
Congrats Reed. Keep up the hard work and keep that great attitude.
Name a championship team which didn't feature a KY Boy playing a key role. "I'll hang up and listen" ...👍 3Comment

I’m not from EKY but I can’t help but feel immensely proud of kids from the region who get to go to UK on a football
or basketball scholarship. Super happy for this kid to get to
follow in his dads footsteps.Comment
