Maybe the best place to check out in state talent early in the season is at Fairdale HS and the King of the Bluegrass Tournament. Tolson, Johnson and James Wiseman will be there. Here's the teams for this year.
Anderson County High School (Lawrenceburg, KY)
      Ballard High School (Louisville, KY)
Bowling Green High School (Bowling Green, KY)
      Cleveland High School (Seattle, WA)
      Cooper High School (Union, KY)
Covington Catholic High School (Covington, KY)
      Ensworth School (Nashville, TN)
      Fairdale High School (Fairdale, KY)
Fern Creek High School (Louisville, KY)
      Lexington Christian School (Lexington, KY)
Mercer County High School (Harrodsburg, KY)
      Palmetto High School (Miami, FL)
Pulaski County High School (Somerset, KY)
      Trinity High School (Louisville, KY)
      Walton-Verona High School (Walton, KY)
West Linn High School (Portland, OR)

The tournament runs from Dec. 19th thru 23rd. I'll be there evaluating the Officials and would love to meet any WCN'er. I can't get tickets, but come anyway.

Somebody told me today that Zion Harmon, the 8th-grade phenom who was the star of the Sweet 16 last year and who transferred to Adair County (of all places) over the summer, was 16 years old.

        8th grader.

If he's the same one that played for Bowling Green last year, it was reported at the KOB that he was an 8th grader then. He was an arrogant kid that didn't shoot that well when I saw him.

A few years ago there was an 8th grader here that had his driver's license. Created quite the uproar as there was no designated student parking. School had to assign him a parking area.

This "Aspire Academy" in Louisville has apparently been playing other "academies" at sites all over KY and all across the nation. I assume they cannot get games with actual schools in the traditional district/region arrangement of the KHSAA. But they do post their schedule on their website if anyone wanted to see them (and Charles Basset) play. Think I'll opt out. Sounds like something LaVar would have come up with.

Zion Harmon is averaging about 40 a game at Adair County.

Cal has not scored an in state talent since Derrick Willis--would like to see another in state who could be a good role player like him!!!!

Increasingly likely that Kyky something is going to be our next in-state recruit with potential.

Has anybody seen the big kid from Covington Catholic? He committed to Xavier, but now will end up at UL.

Yes. Can play. Good hands and can run the floor a little.

He wasn't their best player, however. He was probably their third best player in the couple of games I watched. Iowa signee CJ Fredrick was by far their best and to my eye he was the best player in the state.

Actually, check that. Belmont signee Adam Kunkel was the best player I saw this past season.

Amazing player and I think he'll kill it at Belmont's level.

I wonder why Scotty didn't get the Kunkel kid. Grades maybe?
