Charles Bassey is rivals #3 overall for 2019. He's at Aspire Academy in Lville--Adidas partner who moved to Kentucky this year from Arizona. Sounds like a serious academic institution, huh? Screwed up system these youngsters have to operate in.

I've lived in Louisville all my life (well, the last three years in Bullitt County just south) and I haven't heard of Aspire Academy. Like, the entire school moved from Arizona to Kentucky?

Kentucky doesn't have a single player in the Rivals top 150 for 2018.

In '19, outside of Bassey there's a kid from Trinity who's really good. (I watched Trinity practice last week. Good Lord.) His name is David Johnson, but if recent Kentucky high school basketball history holds, he'll slip off the radar by the time he's a senior.

Corbin has a really good player who I think is going to Furman.

Just not a whole lot of high D1 talent in this state, and that's been the case for a very long time. The talent we do have tends to leave.

Calling it a school is probably a stretch. Apparently one of these deals where they primarily teach basketball and have to be associated with an accredited school--in this case DeSales.. I'm sure DeSales gets a hefty check for their part in this. I don't like it but it's the way the grown-ups get to exploit kids who show talent.

Anyway I think I read this "school" only existed in AZ one year before heading to KY. I had never heard of them either. By they way I lived in Bullitt Co. 1st thru 6th grade--Mt. Washington.

Aspire actually lists adidas as a partner company. Perhaps a certain coach had a hand in bringing them to town? That is pure conjecture by the way. I have no real reason to believe that.
