Class of 2018 - General Discussion

All class of 2018 player profiles have been moved to the Recruit Watch sub-forum. From here on out, we'll use this thread for general discussion about the 2018 class.

I'll do my best to stay on top of new offers and targets, and I'll create new threads in the Recruit Watch forum for those players. If you see/hear about a new name on UK's radar and you don't see a new thread shortly thereafter, please notify me and I'll start a new profile thread ASAP.

Any new articles, mixtapes, profiles, etc. will be posted in that player's respective thread. If any of you see those things before I do, or you learn of new information, come across something you'd like to share about a player, or just want to discuss, please don't hesitate to contribute to those threads.

Offered Zion Williamson yesterday and I would put his % at UK 40%, UNC & Duke 30% each...

The prediction listed is as of this morning. Likely that the picks haven't been updated.

So you are saying shaq's son is a lock. Has cal offered him a scholarship yet, rivals shows he has 9 teams interested and Kentucky is the only one that hasnt offered a scholarship, and all the teams are listed as medium interest

The poster is just using Scout's Crystal Ball projections. Those aren't his picks.

Looks like there are only four picks about O'Neal logged so far. Of those, two are UK writers.

Bagley will be the star of the class, him and Zion would be a heck of a combo.

I have a hard time believing that'll happen. But man, what a combo...

The percentages I posted are based on this site. It's a decent resource, but those numbers are only derived from the number of sportswriters (and others, I guess?) who are given permission by the site to predict a player's destination.

Bagley narrowed his list to 6 and UK is included.

Look at you DVZ linkin us up to footage!

My two cents (I follow HS boys & girl players across the country) :
-Trust me when I tell you of the 2018 bigs we really want MBIII-back and front to basket player, has jumper, can shoot 3 on occassion, block shots. He is "UK" cloth...I've seen quite a few of his Sierra Canyon games. Gonna be interesting to see if he goes back to AZ to play AAU this summer or does he connect with SoCal EYBL team/
-K Moore- scorer, nice jump shot (needs to work on his defense). He too is built for "UK"
-S- Oneal- he's not built for "UK", is a good player but not a UK player. A lot farther along than Shaq was when he was his age but I think he's being offered because he's Shaq's kid. I've been watching him since freshmen year and the games I've seen him play he doesn't fit us but what's more important is does he REALLY believe he fits UK or is he caught up?
-J. Smart- shifty with speed (not Fox speed), scorer not a shooter...a poor mans Fox. He could be a role player for UK, best player coming out of LA
                          Z. Williams- one dimensional power dunker. I would be surprised if he ends up one-and-done, minimum 2yrs. He is a good fit for FSU or everyone's "favorite school" UNC-Lol

Thanks for the write-up, 85 Fly.

I don't think O'Neal has been offered. I think he just really really really wants to go to UK (or Shaq really wants him to), so you see him linked to us a lot.

You're the first person I've heard suggest that Zion Williamson isn't a phenom. I can't say that I've seen him do anything other than dunk, but have you seen or heard credible stuff that contradicts his ranking?
