My comment was based on what he showed at UK, not his attributes. To come in as highly regarded as he did, he was one of the poorest players Cal has recruited, since he's been at UK, in my opinion.

That's the thing though. They draft on attributes. It's why Diallo, having never played a game, is seeing how he stacks up.

As many of you remember players use to be drafted right out if high school so the NBA people know what to look for regardless of a players college or high school career.

They would prefer not to have to do it this way, though. They want guys they can get a read on in terms of their competitive fire.

Main reason the NBA loves the one-and-done rule.

So if Diallo leaves, we really need to put the press on Johnson from Pitt. We need guard help.

Yes, there were TONS of total busts back then--Kwame Brown for example. I think NBA teams grew very weary of drafting totally on potential and paying huge $ and quite often getting no return.

One year seems awful quick to us but it gives NBA scouts a heck of a lot more info than high school and AAU.

Someone said he has now decided NOT to compete in the 5 on 5. Good or bad sign for him returning?

Bad for us. That suggests he's getting good feedback and doesn't want to risk spoiling that in the five-on-five.
