I think it's also worth remembering that even though there was a struggle out there, the Cats didn't quit. In a loss like this, that's something to appreciate.

Looks like Cal should have been pressuring the inbouds the whole game. UCLA folding under the pressure.

Think he was frustrated. Which he should have been: played terribly. Even the great Tyler Ulis showed some of that last year early.

We forget he's just a sophomore. He'll be fine.

We've put up 92 points and folks are talking about our offense and the lack of coaching. This team has to grow defensively just like the John Wall team did.

Cats got outshot. Cal got out coached. How does Mulder not log a single minute when you need a comeback and Briscoe is off and Dom has given you nothing? Learn from this, coach.

Also, remember Briscoe is coming back from a back problem. We don't know if that was bothering him today, if so he played really hard in spite of it.

I'm okay with frustrated, and I hope he uses it moving forward.

Sometimes I think these Cal teams need this early season punch to the chin. So much praise and hype, they need to get knocked off the horse.

                    97 points.

That's crazy. Knew it would be high scoring but that's a defensive collapse. Gave up so many open looks. So, so many. All day long.

I was just about to post this. Briscoe was clearly frustrated and having a bad game. Sit him, let him calm down, and put in Mulder. Briscoe gives essentially nothing from outside and that's what we needed.

Agree about Mulder. Sure his defense isn't the greatest but he can shoot the hell out of the ball. For Cal to think he could give us nothing is just silly. I'm not suddenly souring on Cal, but let's face it. He got out coached BIG TIME today. Wasn't trapping or defending inbounds until it was pretty much over. Say what you will, but those are two pretty big aspects of coaching.

I also was wondering about Mulder. With the way we played defense, especially the second half, you can't keep him on the bench for that reason.

                            Mulder was sick.

We should've went to the elementary school defense. You guard him, face him, and don't help on anyone. Too often the guards would help on the drive and leave their shooter wide open.

Hats off to UCLA. They played a great game. Hate getting beat at home though.
