I"m just going off the fact when Cal has a great class like this year then the next year isn't usually as good. Its all relative because every class he has had has been very good. I don't know about Wynyard. Still haven't seen enough of him but he looks like a classic banger inside. He could help but only as a sub. If you play him too many minutes his warts would show. Sort of like Marcus Lee.

Wynyard has the size he just needs to put in the work. Did anyone think Jorts would turn into what he did? I don't anticipate us ever NEEDING Wynyard, but he might be able to play an Eloy Vargas role for us one day and give us 8-10 minutes in spurts off the bench.Comment

Next year's class is not near as good as the current one and we are not in the running for any top 5-10 recruits. And we will likely have to load up with a ton of them. If Wynyard is going to contribute at all, it needs to be next year. I don't see him getting off the bench this season unless it is cigar time.Comment

I think Cal likes Trae Young more than anybody in the class and likely feels he's a bit low in the rankings, similar to guys like Ulis and Booker. It's clear, like Malik Monk--another player who might have been low--that Cal hitched his wagon to Young early on, which drew him out of contention for those two top 10 point guards.
And I'm not sure next year's class is not nearly as good as this year's. What it is is deep. There's a lot of talent through the top 20/25, though I agree there might not be a Giles or Jackson in the class (unless you count Ayton, and I'm not sure I do).
One strange thing about the class is that it's going to have more guys in it who are ranked near the top who never play in college.Comment

Bamba and Knox maybe.

Cal will never take a year off. Playing teams like Bellermine, Georgetown or Campbellsville will still be blow-outs, but better than Asbury.John 3:3
