    Davis Scores 50 in Opener

Anthony Davis got himself into rare company by scoring 50 points in the Pelicans opener last night. He is only the 4th player to score 50 points in an opening game. The other three were Wilt Chamberlain,Elgin Baylor and Michael Jordan. No bad company.

Anthony Davis offered the basketball-watching world two reminders on Wednesday night. After a 2015-16 season plagued by injuries that wound up knocking him off the gold-medal-winning U.S. squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics, he reminded us exactly what kind of monster he is, beginning the 2016-17 campaign with a historically productive game the likes of which the league had literally never seen. Unfortunately, he also reminded us just how little help he has on the New Orleans Pelicans right now, casting in stark relief the predicament facing one of the game’s most gifted players and the franchise to which he made a long-term commitment last summer.
    Kentucky fan since 1971.

Also had 16 rebs, 7 steals, 5 assists, and 4 blocks. Hopefully he stays healthy and they get him some help.

        Good Lord in heaven.

I flipped over and watched a little of the first half. At one point he scored like fourteen straight on nearly consecutive possessions.

He's okay at the game of basketball.

He's a HOFer if he can stay healthy. Numbers like that simply aren't common.

Great stats, and if he can stay healthy he will put up these numbers again.

If he stays healthy the two top centers in the NBA will be from Kentucky very soon (Towns). Maybe top three with Cousins included.

I saw someone mention the 5x5 being very rare. He was one block away from it. Anyone know about it?

These forums have changed us and we didnt even notice. A few years ago talking about the NBA, even a wildcat in the NBA, would have been moved to another thread. It was kind of an unwritten rule that we didnt break up the NBA in a Kentucky forum. I think everyone has evolved a little to include the NBA cats in UK BB forum. This isnt a knock on anyone or even the subject matter just something that popped in my head.

The board doesn't have a pro sports forum is one reason.

I think stuff should be put in the forum that it will get the most eyeballs on it as long as it's tangentially about the topic at hand.

I guess this means the price just went up for Boston if Ainge wants to make a move for Davis lol lol lol lol...

When Kentucky has more players in the NBA than anyone else, it's kind of hard to ignore. Not only does Cal send players to the NBA, he's sending Superstar franchise players. I like the NBA and the more UK kids in the league, the better sell it has to be for recruiting......

Davis sort of fell off last year because of injuries and Towns became the talk of the next big thing. Many debate and it's a toss up or who you would rather have to start a franchise, Towns or Davis with Towns edging him out because of his strong rookie year. If Davis stays healthy and keeps playing the way he did last night, I think it reverts back to Davis.....
