Believe it or not, UL has a really good class committed for 2017. Last year's class was good too. Realistically, they're gonna give the Cats fits at the Yum this year IMO. The attention span of the American public lasts about 15 minutes, and then PPPOOOOFFF stuff disappears.

Louisville was hit with four level one (the harshest) infractions. The only thing that they really skirted was the dreaded "lack of institutional control," and they probably dodged that bullet by self-imposing last year.
Pitino will be suspended for some games, without a doubt. But the big question is what happens to that banner, since the findings pretty much confirm that Louisville played ineligible players during that championship run.
My guess is that because they won the title, they'll get to keep their banner. But Pitino will be suspended for 10-15 games, they'll lose two or three scholarships, be fined a heft amount of money, and have to forfeit a fair number of wins (but not the championship). Add that to the fact that they sat out a tourney already (in a year where they were a contender), I'd say that added together that's a pretty harsh punishment.
To say nothing of the embarrassment and stain that it brings to the program.Comment

And he's recruiting just as well as he ever has, apparently. The sad fact is that nobody really seems to care.Comment

This is not true in the slightest.

Don't think that matters at all. RP get that many suspended games? Turtleneck won't let that happen. Forfeited games. So what? A fine?? So what? If they lose scholarships, that may hurt a tad.

Pitino should lose his job and they should forfeit every game they won where they used ineligible players (including the championship). That should be the outcome of this.
My guess is that Pitino rides into the sunset after this season, so we kind of get that outcome anyway. And then we'll see if the NCAA has any cojones at all with the banner decision.Comment

The University of Louisville received its Notice of Allegations (NOA) from the NCAA this morning, leaving sportswriters scrambling to decipher the legalese and figure out just how much trouble the basketball program is in. I did my best to break down the NOA into seven takeaways for you: 1. The NCAA handed down four Level One […]Comment

What else do you suggest the NCAA do to them? Make them sit out another tournament, which ultimately punishes players that had nothing to do with it?

[QUOTE=thughes;n89084]That seems to be the conspiracy theory that's making the rounds, and I guess it makes sense, knowing the NCAA and their justifications for nonsense.Comment
