What's going unmentioned is Wright's ability to coach. They shut down Ellis, Hield, and Johnson.

And out-coached Self, Kruger and Williams.

This is an awful comparison. UNC has done a lot wrong and deserves all they get and likely more. But by all accounts Marcus Paige is an excellent student.

He cries after a game and he's suddenly protected from UNC-related ridicule?

          That's not how this works.

                Great, great game.

Jay Wright had a terrific game plan and stuck with it. Control tempo, play smart, strong on D and rely on shooters to make plays. It worked. UNC had ZERO fast break points.

When you have good/great shooters, you will always have a chance. Always.

I think Roy made some questionable decisions during the game but if they had won, no one would have cared. Congratulations to Villanova.

That'll never happen. Last night's shot is up there, but the implications and story surrounding the Laettner shot will still keep it at the top.

Yea you will still see both. They will bond the years together with those two shots.

Will be a debate on which is the greatest shot.

Greatest shot? It has to be Villanova's. it was for a national championship. Laettener's just got Duke to the Final Four. Shouldn't be much debate at all.

We'd all like that, but the writers, the historians, the fans of the sport - the people that understand the context surround the Duke/UK game - will all argue (I think appropriately so) that the Laettner shot is still the greatest (or worst, if you're us). The story, the implications, and the buildup to that moment were all just too powerful. Too meaningful.

None of this is meant to take anything away from what happened last night. That was a fantastic game with an historic finish, and it deserves all the attention it will receive from this day forth.

But I still don't think it eclipses The Shot.

Also, The Shot, was what kept UK out of the FF after coming off probation.
