Why you think it's being played now? That is why I have no desire to see it. I mean, why even air it in yhe fist place? If they played other Title games with present day announcers doing commentary then I might be inclined to watch it. ESPN represents a lot of what is wrong in this world.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

            Did Kentucky win?

            ....No?

Then I'll spend as much time watching that, as I have every previous UK loss in history.

            Done.

Yea, so next year we can expect to see a 50 year anniversary game aired of the 1967 championship.

The integration of the game was a big deal. It would've been fully integrated regardless of whether the '66 game happened or not, but that was a consequential moment in the sport's history.

I've never seen video of it so I'd be interested in watching. Generally I'm like Katmendo in that if we lose then I don't really care to watch, but after years have passed I generally don't mind it. I love old footage of basketball games, particularly games in the '80s. It's almost like you're watching a different sport entirely.

I remember how shocked everyone was that we lost the game.

I've always wanted to see this game. I wasn't quite three when this game was played. So I have no recollection of it. My dad always talked about it. It was a shocking loss. No one knew anything about Texas Western and thought UK would win easily. UK had beat Duke the day before in a close game and everyone thought that was the title game. My dad said Texas Western was really quick and they got a couple of steals and dunks early on that set the tone of the game. Basically he said UK played on their heels the rest of the game. Also its been said a couple of UK players had bad colds or flu and weren't up to par either. I think I have heard Larry Conley mention that but he never made it an excuse.

I read that ESPN is using the actual game broadcast and that the commentary from the ESPN talking heads will be after the game. I get tired of the racial talk too but it was a part of it. Although at the time nothing was said of it. I'm sure some, especially black people noticed but nothing was made of it from the media until the 80's when Curry Kirkpatrick started spewing his hatred towards UK and making UK out to be an arm of the Klu Klux Klan. It was just a shame how some bent that way of out line and had no idea of the context of the times.

Sure, but we tend to forget that the universe doesn't revolve around us.

I'm looking forward to watching it - primarily to get an alternative look at it outside of the movie, which was embellished at certain points for cinema.

As an aside, the Sooners Khadeem Lattin is the grandson of David Lattin who was one of the starters on the 1966 Texas Western team.

Kind of ironic and you wonder if Oklahoma is a team of destiny.
