I'm sure we'll all be fine with a Stony Brook loss because AT LEAST WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PLAY INDIANA.
Twenty years from now, talking to my grandson: : "My favorite moments following Kentucky basketball? Well, boy, sit down here on granddad's lap and let me tell you about the time we won the 2012 title behind a guy with one eyebrow, the '96 team, the Comeback Cats...oh, and duh, how could I possibly forget that time we lost to Stony Brook so we could dodge a game with Indiana. Doesn't your old grandpappy always tell you that's what UK basketball is all about: losing so you don't have to play a team."
Inscribed on the Tyler Ulis memorial in Craft: "Great leader of men, all-time great at Kentucky, second-team All-American, player of the year in the SEC, went on to take his team to a first-round loss against the mighty Stony Brook Seahawks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament so that his team wouldn't have to play Indiana in the second round."
Added to Cal's bio at the Hall of Fame: "Countless wins, a national championship, five Final Fours at two different schools, and in 2016 he lost to Stony Brook in the first round so his team didn't have to play the Indiana Hoosiers, a game that would define his legacy as a head coach."
I can't wait until we lose to Stony Brook on Thursday night so that I don't have to watch this team ever again.
Absolutely cannot wait.
