I'm sure we'll all be fine with a Stony Brook loss because AT LEAST WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PLAY INDIANA.

Twenty years from now, talking to my grandson: : "My favorite moments following Kentucky basketball? Well, boy, sit down here on granddad's lap and let me tell you about the time we won the 2012 title behind a guy with one eyebrow, the '96 team, the Comeback Cats...oh, and duh, how could I possibly forget that time we lost to Stony Brook so we could dodge a game with Indiana. Doesn't your old grandpappy always tell you that's what UK basketball is all about: losing so you don't have to play a team."

Inscribed on the Tyler Ulis memorial in Craft: "Great leader of men, all-time great at Kentucky, second-team All-American, player of the year in the SEC, went on to take his team to a first-round loss against the mighty Stony Brook Seahawks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament so that his team wouldn't have to play Indiana in the second round."

Added to Cal's bio at the Hall of Fame: "Countless wins, a national championship, five Final Fours at two different schools, and in 2016 he lost to Stony Brook in the first round so his team didn't have to play the Indiana Hoosiers, a game that would define his legacy as a head coach."

I can't wait until we lose to Stony Brook on Thursday night so that I don't have to watch this team ever again.

    Absolutely cannot wait.

I mean the 2012 team really should have lost that Iowa State game so we didn't get Indiana in the Sweet 16.

Indiana really gained everything because of that game and we gained nothing. I mean that's obvious. What did we get out of that year? I forgot.

What did they get out of that year? Well, it's obvious: everything.

Back in 1975 I was really hoping UK would lose to Central Michigan so they wouldn't have to get pounded again by Indiana. It was such a waste of a great season for IU to lose to UK that year. Messed up a perfect season and all. Felt really bad for Knight.

They had a real cake walk that year they lost to Lehigh in the first round. Yep playing in Providence this year is just a short drive for them.

That to this day is still the most embarrasing loss I have seen UK have in a NCAA tournament game.
That Marquette loss under Pitino was embarrassing as well. I just don't understand some of the posts in here. If I was new to this site, I would have bet there were some UL trolls in here. Let's beat the hell out of Stony Brook like we should and bring on IU.

It was warranted. They have woefully underachieved during his tenure.

There is nothing to this. As of right now, Travis Ford is still the OSU Coach. And this info came from his Dad.

I expect the Stoney Brook game to begin with Stoney Brook taking an early lead and then we adjust - been typical of many of our midseason games. We'll take the lead at about halftime and not relinquish it.

If I were betting this game, I'd take the over and we beat the spread.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

This. If he didn't play for UK everyone on this board would look at his coaching career and say "meh".

8 outright losing seasons (across his career), including this year.

Ford finished this year at 12-20 and lost 11 of his last 12 games.

Last season he finished at 18-14 and lost 7 of his last 8 games.

Those late-season swoons are indicative of teams quitting on him. Most coaches would be fired in similar circumstances, but Ford's unusual contract has been an issue for Oklahoma State in the past.
