Jameel Warney, best player in school history. He's a 6'8" center who plays within 10 feet at all times. Averaged 20 and 10 this year. The 43 was a career high. 3 time player of the year in the America East - will be a good player in Europe. He is very good, but has struggled at times against more athletic bigs. Jameel and our point guard can hang for a bit with you guys, the rest of our guys may be really outmatched. We are in the same conference as Albany who you played very early this year.Comment

You are all overlooking the mighty Seawolves from Stony Brook! Stony Brook is the team that took out LSU to advance to the College World Series in 2012! (not much to go on, but that's all I got.) Our first time ever in the tournament - lucky us we get you guys! I'll be lurking around here for the week if that's ok.Comment

Us being the 4 seed isn't the rub. We had some terrible losses and in the end that's what got us. We had some control over that but losing to UCLA, Ohio St. Auburn, and UT did us in. Where we got screwed and where the committee has full power is the region we are in. Look at Dukes draw compared to ours. If we win our first game and everything goes as planned we will play the big ten champs then the ACC champs. Its a terrible region.Comment

Heck IU has to play Kentucky and then UNC or Providence will have to play Kentucky. They do not want to play us. Our guards are made for tourney runs. Our bigs just need to do enough.on D, rebound and score a few points and we can be fine. Against someone like UNC our bigs need to do a little more but we do have the #1 efficient offense in the nation and if I remember a top 10 efficient defense.

UK's region has the #1 1 seed, #1 3 seed and #1 5 seed.
Pretty tough draw. Will be an accomplishment to get out of first weekend.Comment

Vanderbilt, Butler and Syracuse getting in ahead of South Carolina is indefensible. South Carolina was undefeated in out of conference play, including a win over Tulsa, who got a bid. Carolina beat Clemson, who in turn beat Syracuse, Louisville, Duke, Miami and Pitt. Syracuse was 9-9 in the ACC and got in; Clemson was 10-8 and did not.
Equally indefensible is Texas A&M as a 3 seed and Kentucky as a 4, after they share the SEC regular season title, A&M wins in OT at home in the regular season, and Kentucky beats them in the SEC tournament title game. There is no way to justify a 3 for A&M and a 4 for Kentucky after that. It happened only so they could match Kentucky with Indiana, and A&M with Texas. $$$.Comment

Welcome aboard, Salty Seawolf. Good luck to your team. Enjoy the tournament!
Kentucky and Stony Brook have only played once previously. It was November 27, 2007 at Rupp Arena, during the disastrous Billy Gillispie years. Kentucky won 62-52. Patrick Patterson led UK with 19. The only other Wildcat on that team to play in the NBA, Joe Crawford (2 games for the Knicks, that was it) had 11. Stony Brook's Mitchell Beauford had 20 points, and Michael Tyree had 13. Emanuel Neto had 8 points and 12 rebounds. Kentucky finished 18-13 and barely made the NCAA tournament that year, losing to Marquette in the first round.
There aren't many good memories from Gillispie's years as head coach, before Calipari. It was a terrible hire by the AD.Last edited by Old School; 03-13-2016, 10:26 PM.Comment

How we just beat them, win the Sec Championship and you don't at a MINIMUM flip and place them 4 and us 3?!

I said earlier in the week the selection committee would have everyone placed by Friday and this was pretty much confirmed. UK had no chance of improving themselves and would have only hurt themselves if they had lost to Alabama. This is what happens when have people selecting teams that hardly watch any games. They go by numbers and numbers often lie.
Of course this has shades of 2011. UK wins the SEC and is still lower than the another SEC team. They have to play a tough road to just get to the regionals and the Final Four is n Houston.
Actually Indiana is the team that should be outraged at this. They should have been an easy 3 seed. They are playing as well as anyone in the country and won the Big Ten regular season going away and they still only get a five seed and potentially have to play the SEC champion in the 2nd round. That's a joke.
Syracuse,Tulsa and Vandy getting in is a joke too. None of those deserved a bid. It didn't surprise me a bit South Carolina didn't get in. Their OOC schedule was in the 300's. Unless you go undefeated you don't deserve an at large bid with that kind of schedule. These SEC teams never learn by scheduling poorly you do your team a huge disservice in every way.
I'm afraid the road will end for UK if they play UNC. They are just too big and if UNC shoots just a reasonable percentage from the outside it will be lights out for UK. But getting to that game won't be easy. Stony Brook isn't a bad team. I watched some of their game Saturday. They have a big bull of player who is about 6-8 and 270. He's slow but if they into a half court game and get it inside to to him UK will have some problems. Win that one and they probably have IU waiting on them. IU has played as well as anyone since about mid January. They won the Big Ten going away and are a very solid team. That game will be a war to win. CBS got what they wanted with these matchups. A good chance at a UK/IU game and probably a UNC vs IU or UK in the regional semi's. If you see one of those committee members saying TV had no influence on them then just call them a liar because you know they did and have for many many years.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

I think they hit Indiana for the unbalanced Big 10 schedule and the fact that they struggled so much in the OOC.
They hit Kentucky I think for the road record, same as 2011, but I agree with Kevin and others that they really wanted those TV games, so Kentucky got slid into the 4.Comment
