Worst frontline I've seen at UK in a long time. Just can't win a game solely on guard play.If Alex picks up a couple of fouls early he disappears. Marcus has no offensive game besides lob and can't hit free throws. Skal to be frank is a bust, IMO he needs 2 years in the weight room before he is ready for D1 ball much less the NBA. Anybody who drafts him this year is smoking crack. Briscoes lack of improvement at free throws is becoming a real problem in close games. Just don't see how you play him late in tourney. This is a VERY uneven basketball team. Great talent but MAJOR flaws that will mean an early tourney exit. No way they go back to Final Four just isn't going to happen.

Poythress is so uneven it kills the chances for this team his rebounds have been as low as 1 vs Bama and a high 13 vs EKU Scoring just as varied 0 today and a high of 25 vs Bama.
He has fouled out in five games inexcusable. Poythress averages are deceptive10PPG and 6RPG because of the games where he does not contribute like today. For the season 14 games below his point average and nine games below his RPG average.
I know he is trying but we NEED consistent production from him.“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.â€-F. Scott Fitzgerald last line "The Great Gatsby"Comment

But with Willis to spread the court and with Ulis playing his normal game, against this field they have a shot.
You would think today was a blip on the radar for Ulis given the fact he's played at such a high level for 90% of this season. Thought he was physically overmatched today and he let it get to him.Comment

This is what happens when you don't have a competent inside game, and Ulis and/or Murray has an off game.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

I know a lot of the fans feel that when we get in the Big Dance, a neutral court is just as good as playing at Rupp. I'm not sure playing on a neutral court will cure our road woes.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

Doesn't matter if you play at Rupp or on a neutral or on the moon, if you don't have all your dudes you're susceptible to taking a beating.Comment

Oh well. Now it's time to look ahead to Florida. We need a much better effort from our bigs or we will have the exact same outcome. Odd thing was Cal yesterday acted like we would lose this game. We did not make any adjustments at halftime. Not sure what the issue was today but Cal did not make the necessary adjustments, he decided to have Ulis and Briscoe try to score the last 7 minutes of the game. 2nd half Brisoce played out on top with the ball more. Not sure what our thought process was.
Hope we get a better effort on Tuesday from the Coach as well as the team. Team played like capital C-rap.Proverbs 25:24Comment

Seeding for Kentucky is hard because we've had so many injuries. Poythress has been out in losses, Lee has been out, Willis has been out.
But you can't prove to the committee that that matters unless you get healthy by March. Best-case scenario is that we get Willis back and run through the SEC tourney; in that case they may give us the benefit of the doubt.Comment

I hope for this team, but I will flatly state that if we have to base our hopes for the future on Alex Poythress, we're fresh fish.
A great student. A great scholar. A great talent. But a rather lousy competitor. The bigger the hand, the harder he folds, IMO.Comment
