I have looked the rule book over, and in a hurried way, and can't find the rule about slamming the ball to the court. But, it has been a rule ever since I started officiating 40 some years ago, and at every level. Slamming the ball to the court and immediately catching it is not an automatic T although it could be. But slamming the ball to the court and not catching it has always been a T, and it makes no difference why the ball was slammed. It has never been a judgement call.
I will continue to look at the other books on the rules and see if I can find anything, Maybe in the Case book, or the officials manual.John 3:3

LOL, what difference does it make if you catch it. So stupid. Look at the picture of the rule I posted.Comment

You're welcome.
A perfect example of why I always suggest you never pay any attention to announcers. The guys doing the halftime of the IU game said the T should not have been called because the player wasn't upset. Think about why there is a rule. If a kid slams the ball and it hits someone and injures them, it really doesn't matter to them why the ball was slammed.
Briscoe did the exact thing a few games back and he got a T, and it sure didn't cause as much fuss as this one has.John 3:3

If not for Humphries, this team may have been ran out of the stadium. Just a bad time for a mistake by a kid that sees little action compared to others. No excuses. He will learn. It wasn't the final game of the season. A couple more made free throws by anyone, one more three made, one less turnover, one more stop.
Team loss, not Humphries or official loss.
AtM only lost one game at home this year. Really good home team.
These kids sure have came a long way and developed a tough streak. Turning into a kind of special bunch no matter how they end up wins and losses wise.👍 1Comment

Ahh, ok I see how they can call it now....
It starts out by saying "A player or substitute committing an unsportsmanlike act including, but not limited to the following...."
So, it's a complete judgement call. And Pat Adams used poor judgement IMOComment

Thought D was decent. Held A&M to 39%, outrebounded A&M in the 2nd half short handed. Yeah we made mistakes but I think The Hump deserves more minutes / Lee was in the game 31 minutes and Briscoe played great. Hawkins came in and did good. Still 1 Skal when he was in the game A&M would take over. Skal does not deserve any more minutes this year. Only in times of foul trouble. Hope to see Willis back soon. The way he twisted his ankle did not look good. Maybe by LSU week we will see Poythress and Willis back. Until then we just have to play a little differently. Mulder and Matthews will have a chance to take some minutes.Proverbs 25:24Comment

Agreed, The one on Hump was horrible. Did not even come close to the guy and the official on top at almost half court blew the whistle on that play. Just plain awful. Hope we can get back to Lexington and get ready for another quick game.Proverbs 25:24Comment
