Been a bunch of good points on both sides. Great Discussion.

Some of the media have back tracked since the SEC release and are now backing up the call. It's all spilled milk now. We would not have been in the game in the 2nd half without Hump and his 5 second brain fart did cost us a game now, better now than in 3 to 4 weeks. Biggest loss is Willis. Hope he can get over his injury quick. We are a much different team without him. I think Hump is moving ahead of Skal and will keep moving forward. Hope he does not dwell on this and keeps getting better. He can help a ton down the stretch.

Yep. Totally agree. Nothing we can do about it now.

And really, that game, the way it went and how we lost, it's really not going to hurt us I don't think. We'll keep our seed and we're still in good shape to win the SEC. We could've jumped up a seed line with a win, but we still have a chance to make hay on that front.

The real killer was the Willis injury. That's just devastating if it's a lingering thing.

And just to add. I prefer it being an automatic technical. Slam the ball like that and get T'd up. End of discussion. If you start adding in what if's and but's, making it where officials have to either read a kids mind or make a judgement call that's when things get sketchy.
        Great post, in my opinion.

I thought the Briscoe technical was a stupid call too. It just didn't matter because UK was by about 30 at the time. Also thought the T on the South Carolina player was unnecesarry. For whatever reason the refs have gotten T happy this season. IMO they just want attention and the TV time they get exposed to.

We had a kid make a mistake that was compounded by an over zealous ref that wanted to make sure he had a part in the game. That was a judgment call and most everyone agrees that he should have just swallowed the whistle. Now instead of taking about the terrific effort by the Aussie that brought UK back, we are talking about this idiot in stripes that inserted himself into the game where it did not need to be. The SEC refs are pure horrible and have been all year. Totally inconsistent and cowardly on the calls for both sides. I watch tons of games and the refs in the SEC are a different breed. But whatever.

I still feel awful about this game and I disagree about this game not hurting. Every loss we have hurts seeding this late in the year and we are still losing too many road games. It derails an uptick. And the loss of Willis will be devastating, IMO.

I am certainly proud of Humphries. What a great game when all of our other bigs played like lady parts and decided it was too rough to give effort. I hope this is the light bulb going on moment for the kid. Because when you analyze the game and take out the ridiculous referee moments, I is the lack of effort on the boards that beat UK as much as anything.

Murray and Ulis were all of that. They will be completely worn out now that Willis is out.

Briscoe....I have watched UK basketball for 45 years and I have never seen as bad a jump shooter from a guard that plays this much as he. He does so many other things well that it is hard to keep him out of the lineup though. But dude, stop taking jump shots. Even if you are wide open (which you were 5 times) You are awful at it. And stay in the gym ALL SUMMER shooting. You can fix this. I love every part of his game except that and that is the one aspect that will keep him from making $$. I honestly think he returns next year and we kick butt with our new set of guards.

              Skal - never mind

Hawkins gave us some quality minutes. Good to have him back.

I was really bummed out with this one. Still am. I hate to see us fight back from adversity the whole game and lose it that way. And with Willis gone for what looks to be a very long time, it will be a costly one.

Yep. He just needs to learn to resist temptation. Repent young man.

Briscoe's jumpers are virtually turnovers. The fact that he hit the first-half three was a bad sign as I think it put it in his mind to keep shooting.

What he did for us Saturday though was get some tough rebounds. He was all in that push in the second half until Isaac started in with his boards. Briscoe had two, three rebounds that came in hellish traffic that almost no other guard gets. Guy is an ox.

He just happens to shoot like my eight-year-old daughter.

Am sure Nashville vendors/hotels are hoping Willis and everyone else is playing come tourney time. When UK losses the town clears out fast Looking like they won't play until Friday. That will help. Longer for Willis to heal

Finally got to watch this last night. This was good college basketball game that was ruined by some horrible officiating. It was bad throughout the game for both teams and just made all the worse by that technical call. Jay Bilas got it right when he said "we have officially gone Little League after that call". It was just a shame a good game was ruined by very poor officiating.

...I was disappointed, I couldn't even come in here...I'm just now reading the thread.I had to watch the game again in dis-belief. I felt from Humphries but it shouldn't have come down to that anyways...the effort was there just needed more, would've been nice to have a second crack at them before the end of conference...
