    Obviously. I was more talking about the "need" part of Matt Dillon's post.

    Some of these players' families clearly need it. Some badly. But most of these guys seem to be firmly middle class.

      As much as we think these kids need money, let's be honest, shoe company's been providing for these kids for years I think alot of going to the NBA isn't actually about the money, it's about the status quo......

        Shoe companies definitely, but also living at UK would be like being miraculously plopped down in the suburbs, but only now you have maids and chefs and doctors on-call and academic tutors and virtually anything you'd want 24/7.

        The hardscrabble, broken family definitely happens...but what you see with UK's players are families that have put a lot of money and time and effort into grooming these players since they were 7, 8, 9 years old.

        But the end goal isn't Lexington. It's the NBA. Which is why most of them jump at the first opportunity.
