I hate talking about next year already, but will do so for the sake of the thread. All will say that is if Ulis comes back, it very well could be a better team than last season. If not, we are still going to be pretty darn good.

It really doesn't take much these days to take a guy who isn't on the radar and put him in the first round...or even the lottery.
I saw just this morning that Marcus Lee's stock is suddenly rising. This is a guy who was giving us literally 0/0 just 10 days ago. But one game changed things.Comment

If Lee has even a remote chance of getting drafted, he'll go. I don't expect to have him back for his senior year.
At the same time, once a guy's been here this long, what's another year? He's pretty much shown the league what he is.Comment

I actually don't think this is necessarily true for many of these guys.
You get some (Liggins, Bledsoe) who are in dire financial situations. But a lot of these players come out of prep leagues and have middle-class families who have groomed them to be basketball-playing automatons for years. Playing at Kentucky (or any of these big programs, but especially Kentucky) is far better than going to the D-League because of all the perks they have here and the way they're showcased all the time.
But Cal creates the situation where getting to the pros quickly is the goal, so you get some players who leave when they're simply not ready.Comment

It's crazy how NBA teams get suckered into drafting players who have a few good games in a NCAA tournament. No way Lee is ready for the NBA game in my opinion but one good game and he's back on the board.. Fool's gold in my opinion, Lee just isn't ready for the pro game......Comment

If Briscoe could hit a free throw, i say he's gone. He can learn how to shoot on a NBA bench earning money but the free throw thing totally eliminates his abilities to get to the rim. To try and make it as a second round pick is too much of a gamble for him in my opinion. Look at how many great college players who proved themselves time and time again but couldn't make it in the NBA. Rajon Rondo and I. Thomas of Boston may be the exception but very seldom does this work out for guards in general. R. Bradley, Joe Crawford, and a few other UK players in the past had much better college careers than what Briscoe has had so far, even D. Lamb.......Comment

As bad as M. Teague was getting started as a freshman, i think he was overall better than Briscoe at this point. Teague can't keep a job and i saw that kid break ankles with the ball in his hands at Kentucky...............Comment

A lot of times when you hear them talk they'll say things like, "This was my dream." These guys aren't central Kentuckians who dream of putting on the blue and white. When they dream I think they dream much bigger.
Some desperately need the money, but I think fans don't realize what kind of life they live when they come to Lexington. The perks are outrageous and you're basically one step down from being an NBA player. Their entire family usually comes with them and has a place to live. The financial strains, if there are any, are usually taken care of simply because they have everything they would ever need right there on campus.
I'm not suggesting there are pay-outs or anything illegal is going on, I'm just saying that these guys aren't inner city toughs who are scrapping by to live. The guys who come from horrendous backgrounds we know about, like Bledsoe.Comment

Similar players probably. I think Briscoe is the more powerful and explosive player. I also think his court vision is better, but it's hard to say because we've seen him off the ball a lot.
Briscoe does a whole lot of things to help the team win that don't show up on the stat sheet. He also seems to have a desire out there to really make his opponents' lives miserable, and I'm not sure Teague had that.Comment

What I meant to imply was that there's no wait Bolden comes if Lee, and or Skal return, and even if they both leave there is still not going to be any amount of guaranteed playing time. It will all just depend on what kind of kid he is, does he want to fight for PT or have more of an open slot which is what he'd have at duke.Comment

Hell i do too,, in a New York minute..... A weeks ago when the lottery was at it's highest peak they interviewed a guy out in California and asked him what he would do if he won the lottery. He replied " prostitutes and cocaine"
I don't know about all that but a million or two sure would be enough for me to go off the grid and retire once and for all. As long as i could get some satellite service to watch the Cats, im good............
