I had this thought too. Hope this isn't the case. As inconsistent as Poythress is, we obviously go nowhere without him.

But really Cal has said that Wynyard is almost ready since Wynyard came here at Christmas. IMO he's probably just trying to send a message to Skal and Lee that they have competition.

One upside to Humphries playing well the other day is that it gives some necessary depth to the front line and puts it in these guys' minds that if they don't play hard, they're going to sit.

Good points, Will. I'm afraid we may have seen the last of Poythress for awhile, perhaps for good.

Robic said yesterday that he expects him to play tonight.

Perhaps, perhaps, not. Only time will tell.

???? It's a sore knee. Unless there's something going on that I don't know about, it's hard to imagine his career ending based on something like that. (Unless it was the surgically repaired knee, and it isn't.)

You only hope that it isn't a lingering thing like Hawkins has had. Too close to the end of the season for that.

That's what I'm concerned about. When you consider the stress and pressure on a bb player's knees, it doesn't always have to be some thing serious to cause a player to miss a lot of playing time.

True but these guys are banged up all the time. A bunch of guys have missed games this year. Tyler Ulis limps constantly when you watch him warming up. Devin Booker was hobbled from the moment he stepped foot on campus last year. Briscoe has been hurt twice. Little injuries happen.

I just don't think it sounds or looks that serious, and I think if it were anyone but Poythress we'd just shrug at it. Poythress seems to engender a lot of people to believe the worst when something happens to him. He's Terrence Jones-like in some ways. Anytime Jones had a bad game Kentucky fans were convinced that he was ready to quit the team and that he was finished.

Poythress gets a lot of that. It's almost like you can see a dark cloud hanging over him through the TV screen.

I certainly hope you're correct in your assessment that it's nothing serious. I agree with your statement that we're not going anywhere w/o him.
