I think when a guy has a big individual game what matters is usually when he's getting his points.

If Simmons goes for 35 but scores 25 in the first half, then that's something you can overcome. The performances that really kill you are when the guy goes scoreless in the first half but then starts to just dominate the game in the last 10 minutes. Really hard to win--especially on the road--when somebody's out there just manhandling people in the clutch.

I can't see Briscoe containing him, as tough as Briscoe is. That's a major size advantage. It also makes it so that you've got to invert and put Poythress on a smaller player. I would say he sticks Briscoe on Hornsby and lets Poythress and Lee try and switch off on Simmons.

After last night's game, I'm more or less convinced that Kansas will murder us. We're just not at their level right now.

I watched the KU/OU game....great game until the refs decided to make themselves known. Awful officiating in the NCAA continues....it was pathetic.

And yeah....i was planning to go to KU for the game. Had a work thing come up and am kind of glad. That could be a beating like we gave them last year.

I agree with you about Oden. He broke down completely when he got to the NBA too. I always wondered if he had that disease than ages you faster than normal?

Going way back (70's) there was a player in the NBA named Dick Weis. He looked like he was about 65.

Perry Ellis was recruited by Ted Owens when he was head coach at Kansas. That's a fact too.

Perry Ellis is a month older than Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who is in his 4th NBA season.

He's only about 5 months younger than Kyrie Irving who has been in the NBA for 5 YEARS!!!

It was Bob Weiss who I was thinking about not Dick who is a basketball writer. Here he is. Maybe not 65 but more like 45 in his playing days.

Ellis Choked it up in the second and third OT, air balled an open shot to win the game and I think only made a free throw or two in the final 10 minutes, shot 11-28 and got the player of the game....Even though Hield shot 13-23 and scored 46 points. Hield did have two crucial TO's in the last minutes and a half but he still made some ridiculous shots to stay in the game.

Selden was a top 10 recruit and Ellis was a top 25 recruit....Selden has been very mediocre his first two years, his junior season campain has been much better but he still have games where he doesn't show up, kinda like our version of Poythress.

Selden's inconsistent but he's way more effective than Poythress.

He's still scored in double figures in all but two games and has four 20-point games this season. And he continues to shoot an amazing 54% from three...which is only about 8 percentage points off from his free throw mark.

Alex Poythress has six 20-point games total since he came to UK. Oddly, most of those were in the first five games of his career.

Great college basketball game. And I agree that Kansas looks on another level than us right now. So does Oklahoma for that matter. Cousins is probably their second best player and he had a mediocre game because he was in foul trouble. Buddy Heild was the best player on the court and probably the nation. He made some ridiculous shots and forced none of them. I've always thought Kansas is perennialy overrated but Self has a spectacular team this year. They are the best team I have seen this year.

I would say Oklahoma is better than Kansas even though they lost. Given the way Cousins played. Coming off of Saturdays game with Iowa State. To go to Lawrence and play 3 ot tells me a lot. Not many teams go there and are even competitive. I have not saw a team this year I have been more impressed by.

Wanted to watch this but for some reason my interest in watching other teams this season is almost non existent.

So, they're discussing this game on PTI. Two things, should Oklahoma drop from #2, losing @Kansas, the #1 team in triple OT ?

Second, the final play should have been stopped as the defender wasn't giving 3 inches, much less 3 feet to the inbounding player

I thought the defender was to close to the player throwing the ball in.

Remember I'm on the west coast so I watched that game from start to finish...I kept thinking to myself "are we ready to face KU or OU in any round at the dance?!" I also thought about both teams are fortunate to have veteran players...real veterans (seniors)! Both teams have the chemistry, size and skill because they were fortunate enough to build a team (minus the occasional 1 or 2 players that KU had one-and-done over past few years, not mass exits like us). But then I thought about our team and I said I BELIEVE that when it is time for us to punch our ticket to the dance we will be much better also. I can't lie tho the Big 12 and 10 got some quality "seasoned" (with size) teams this season, I've been watching/scouting them out already (try to watch at least a quarter of play).
