I think the majority of fans aren't in favor of this.... probably even fans of smaller schools or other outlier programs that only get in every blue moon or so. The tournament is already watered down too much as it is.
I'm probably in the minority on this, but I'd actually like to see the field of teams REDUCED! I wouldn't mind having the field cut in half and having a double elimination tournament. I know that would NEVER happen, because part of the appeal is the single elimination factor, but I feel like we'd have a more true and deserving champion if this was done.👍 1Comment

I don't really care much one way or the other. I'll watch some of those early games for sure, though. Why not?Comment

Look they want people parked in front of the tube watching games as long as possible. First weekend has the games. I watch the first 4 and I take off and watch games on Thursday-Sunday the first weekend. Now they will have games, all day Tuesday through Sunday. More eyes more $$$$$. What can you do. You will now see more teams like KY this last tourney playing on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Middling teams that can win a couple or lose game 1. Plus some smaller schools that will play balls to the walls to try to win a game. Not for it or against it. The NCAA wants that doughnut money.Proverbs 25:24Comment

i agree, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Heck, just open it up to all schools and start giving out participation trophies as wellLook they want people parked in front of the tube watching games as long as possible. This same argument was probably happening back in 1951 when they expanded from 8 to 16 teams and in 1975 when it expanded to 32 teams and 1980 when it expanded to 48 teams and 1985 when it expanded to 64 teams. The interesting thing is that less teams (percentage wise) will make the tournament next year than did when it was at 64 in 1985.
I think 64 is the perfect number too, but that's also what I grew up with. I can see why different people from different generations would make the same argument.Comment

I'm kind of in this boat. You mean I get to watch more NCAA tournament games....and that's a bad thing? It's like bowl games in college football...you mean I get to watch more bowl games? Fine by me.Comment

There is something about watching a lose and go home game. Even if it is not your team, you get to watch 2 teams either rise of fall to the moment. It is best when both rise and someone has to lose like Santa Clara vs Kentucky this year.Proverbs 25:24Comment

I heard somebody, years ago, joke that maybe we should just eliminate the regular season and start each year with the tournament involving EVERY team possible.
This was around when they added the "play-in" games, but it's probably even more appropriate today.Comment
