It's not. I'm very appreciative of what Aberdeen did for us this year, but it was no surprise he transferred or that he's going back to Florida. He may not even be eligible next year.

Some people will jump on anything to pile unfounded criticism on Pope. Even when it makes zero sense like in this case. They are likely not even fans.

Iowa forward Alvaro Folgueiras plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal.

Kentucky was hot after him last year, and (I think) more or less settled on Jelavic once he committed to Iowa. I wonder if there will be any interest on the part of UK now that he's back in the portal (?)

Wisconsin guard Blackwell down to Illinois and Duke. Do not think we ever had a chance with that guy.

Everyone knows you are a pope lover and doesnt care if we continue losing 14 plus games a year as long as pope is coach.
pope has not shown he can recruit high level guys. He didn't make the needed adjustments last year when injuries happened and so on so on

Unfortunately, it seems like if a guy has an NBA ready game and a clean cut, chiseled adult body, solid fundamentals with a textbook form jump shot we're never in the running for them.

So everyone "knows" something that isn't true? No surprise there.

I suspect there is a higher probability that Aberdeen get another year via the proposed new five year rule than that he wins his appeal.

247 still showing Gwath a 100% KY lock and Stokes is supposedly visiting UK on Monday. Pope needs to finish the assignment.

He was out of place playing point. He did what he could. Do not see a reason to have a year 2. If he gets another year.
I wouldn’t have minded having him back. I think you pointed out why he wasn’t an effective as we thought he would be in your post. He was forced to play out of position. Maybe if he’s able to move back to his primary role he would be the player we hoped he’d be.

It is not his play. He is one of the players with rumors of team turmoil on this team. Mo / Aberdeen both had rumors of stealing girlfriends on the team and causing issues. I do not want any issues for this next year. if you have issues then you will never know if Pope can coach or not. This year was a train wreck plain and simple. You had guys that did not care about one another off the court. Not all guys, just enough to make it hard to be a team. We saw it half to half / game to game / minute to minute.
