So, 3 years removed from Providence to the Final four and coming off a divisional championship in the NBA. He would have absolutely been a good candidate.
Well it all seems to really come down to whether someone is successful here or if they aren't. If they aren't, anyone can look back and pull out a reason that should have been a red flag for any coach. If they are successful here, then nobody bothers to look back.

My main point in this thread is that Pope hasn't been given long enough yet. If next year doesn't go well, I'll be in the camp that it's time to consider moving on. But he is not anywhere close to that yet.

I agree but I am losing my patience. I still say give him next year and if it isn't a huge improvement then I say we move on. Hopefully Mitch will be gone by then too.

Yeah, Barnhart needs to be put into retirement this summer. It'd be pointless to get rid of Pope if Barnhart has his hand in another hire. He is not a good AD for this new era.

            A switch already went on.

It turned off on any hopes of winning the SEC or SECT or even competing in the NCAAT.
In the grand scheme of things, we are nothing. We are no one.

            Everything is artifice.

Come to terms with that, you will find peace.

I really want Pope to succeed. I have met and talked with him a couple times. Once while he was in the NBA and once just before he took the job. I can tell you without question he absolutely loves Kentucky.

Having said that in year 3. I think he needs to accomplish at least one of these things to remain.

              A. Win the SEC regular season
              B. Win the SEC Tournament
              C. Lose less than 10 games in the season
              D. Go past the sweet 16.

I don't think that is being unrealistic. Unlikely but not impossible that he could accomplish one of those things this season. I been following sports for over 50 years. I have learned to expect the unexpected.
