Sounds like he’s part of the problem to me. Fighting against staff to play him before they apparently thought he was ready. Complaining he was on a minutes restriction. And the very limited time he got caused swelling that hasn’t yet subsided. Dad maybe should have listened to medical staff. Sure it’s admirable to take up for your son. But sounds like sometimes staff, trainers and doctors may know more than dads.

But I guess he’s not looking to fight me. I took up for JQ in post no. 52 above.

In the end his message probably indicates if he’s not in the draft this summer he probably finds a school with a less passionate fan base who will not wonder why he’s still out when very little info is being shared. And a coaching staff who promises to let him call the shots.

Why he was dunking in flip flops after very few months is a head scratcher. But not believing he had swelling in the knee because he was jumping around on it so soon after surgery is also a bit of a head scratcher. Should have either never paid him to show up, OR should have allowed more recovery time and maybe he’d be doing awesome by now.

Also his dad saying he was used wrong may be the dumbest part of the whole deal.

If his “shut down” period has been followed and he follows PT recommendations (once allowed) then someone should have a really good player next season. Probably in the NBA unless scouts really want him to prove he’s lottery material again. Then it would be the highest bidding college team once again.

My opinion is simply that to say he quit on his team and doesn’t want to play is not backed up by any info that’s been released—or that typical data would support.

Matt Colvin used to be our resident expert on injuries. I am not a replacement. I just have a computer in my pocket.
Love this post. So sick of couch potatoes saying he quit. Guy came back too early. They should have tried to sign him to a 2 year deal. Maybe they tried and couldn't.
so sick of people throwing out how much they think the players are making and how much of the supposedly 22 million budget was used. If people didn't contribute their own money. Why would they care? Ones hollering the loudest online about what players are making are almost assuredly the ones who didn't contribute a dime.

100% agree with this. There are so many reasons why it makes zero sense to complain about the $$ that it would take effort to list them all.

Regarding Quintance, if that post from his father is legitimate, then it sounds like he will be in college next year with a different team. Maybe Arkansas?

So basically he can play but his father is protecting his investment, his meal ticket.

Very professional to challenge the UK fans base to a fist fight. Cut that check off I bet his a$$ is suited up and playing ASAP....

His dad made some cryptic post, that many felt was directed at Cal, about coaches needing to talk through him and not directly to JQ. This was when Cal first went to Ark and was probably trying to bring him along.

Maybe a place like Arizona St is more their speed. Zero pressure or expectations. I say that as someone with nothing against JQ, but seems like dad is running the show.

I just read that JQ is fine but is opting not to play..don't know if that is his choice or his father is calling the shots

I didn't take, from the link I posted, that he can play but his father is holding him out. Perhaps I need to read it again. The last I knew UK's athletic teams had a team dr. and he made the determination of whether or not a player was able to play. As far as his dad wanting everything run through him, I don't have a problem with that. If I had a son or dau. in their late teens or early 20's in JQ's position I would be hands on as well. I don't know of too many people that age that are qualified to manage their own business affairs.

I don't think the link implies that. It's just a belief after all his dad has posted and said that he could probably play now but just isn't.

Rumors are out now that he's rehabbing to try to play in the postseason.

Probably wants to improve his draft stock if this is the case.

If we can get the St. Johns version of him for the tournament I'd be ecstatic, but not holding my breath.

I’d be somewhat worried throwing him right into do or die games, especially considering he’s played 4 games in the past year.

Ideally he comes back for the SEC tournament and we are able to play a few games and see how he's doing.

Definitely a wild card, hence why I said if he can replicate what he did against St. Johns then it would be a game changer for us. Unfortunately that was really the only glimpse of him that we got that helped us. Or could just be another body if Moreno gets in early foul trouble or go up against a team with a strong big like Florida.

If by chance JQ does come back and play, he would definitely be an upgrade over Garrison in a relief role but not sure how Pope would use him if he does play.
