When you reach your mid fifties and are talking to others in their fifties, come talk to me. Things change.

When I was in my thirties and early/mid fourties, people in my age range on Facebook cared more about things like UK basketball. Funny how age and life takes people in different directions than caring all that much about college athletics.

I understood why he did it. He's a weak willed moron who knows nothing outside of his bubble.

The same problem with most of the American public.

But, yeah, Cal had earned good will by then. He'd done something. Pope has done nothing of note as yet.
      Agree.

I hate to say it, but could we be looking at BCG 2.0? At least Pope isn't embarrassing the program with his behavior and off the cuff remarks.

I think his leash will be longer...but....wait. Scrap that. As badly as this team is playing, he really could be BCG 2.0 (as in, 2 and done). In BCG's favor in the fact that he never assembled a roster at $22 mil!

too late...and it was a joke.

no one really cares what you or I remember about games twenty years ago

UofL got close at the end but they were down close to 20 most of the night. Sparty wasn’t close, we went an eternity without a FG against a UNC team who tried repeatedly to let us win, and Gonzaga beat us like we owed them money. This is not an acceptable product and Pope deserves the heat he’s getting.

I don’t mean to come off as rude! Just the way I see it.
Nope not rude at all..everyone has their own opinion
I quit watching...tired of the excuses..like the Great Demarcus Cousins said last night ...This team has NO HEART

That's one of the downsides to this particular forum - there is no ability to add any emojis. No laughing faces, no shrugging of shoulders, no winking, no thumbs up, etc. I've tried a few times and it always turns them into a question mark.

Here, I'm going to add a thumbs up below....let's see what we get

It wasn't that way too long ago. I don't know what happened and I'm not a tech person, so I don't know how to fix it.

I am not happy with how this season is going, but I do not regret Cal leaving in any way, shape, or form.

I’d rather lose to UofL, Michigan St., UNC, and Gonzaga than Evansville, Robert Morris, UNC-Wilmington, and St. Peter’s.

I’d rather lose games to good teams with 3 starters missing than lose games to bad teams with a roster full of McD’s All-Americans.

I’d rather have a coach that agonizes over every loss like I do, than one who shrugs it off, makes excuses (“we’re young”), calls us fans “crazy”, and then goes home to watch Little House on the Prairie.

                    But that’s just me.

So I'm going off of how the UK alum living in the state were reacting, which was "that was a bad loss, but I'm not really all that upset or ready for a change just yet".

I think WeWant9 is right....Cal had earned enough good will that people were willing to overlook A LOT of crap when it came to him I was surprised his taking a knee didn't draw more ire, but I guess the faithful just weren't quite convinced that 2015 was completely over and not coming back.
It's also worth noting that we had just beaten the #1 team in the nation 2 games prior to that. If this was just about the Gonzaga game, it wouldn't be like this. This is about the 4 games put together imo.

I think a HUGE part of this is a large portion of this fanbase was extremely skeptical and not happy with the hire the moment it was made because they thought it was a major reach. Within 24 hours of the hiring, a lot of people got on board because they got sucked in by nostalgia, by Pope coming off the bus hoisting the 1996 trophy, by Pope talking about this is the commonwealths program, etc. he said all the right things and now a lot of people are looking back at their initial gut feeling of a questionable hire and seeing that they might have been right.

Lastly, players weren't paid millions of dollars back then. The tide is turning. When they started paying players, the expectations have changed.

I think a large majority of fans agree that Cal had to move on. There are also a lot of us that were questioning the Pope hire when it happened, because he quite honestly had average success as a head coach. Those 2 programs (BYU and Utah Valley) have become better programs since Pope left. The question has never been about wanting Cal gone...the question has been about hitting the panic button too quick in the search process and going to the guy in your back pocket that would have crawled here at any point you reached out to him.

UK didn't lose to Evansville because they didn't try. These guys are not prepared to play and they don't try to win. That's the problem. This team and this coach has embarrassed UK basketball. I've never heard a UK team boo'ed. I've never walked out of a UK game. We walked out of Bridgestone at halftime. Embarrassed against UL. Totally embarrassed in MSG against Mich St. Then didn't even show up in Nashville.

All missing one (Quaintence) key player, two other key players (starters) missing (Lowe and Dioubate) in the last one. Lowe was hurt in the Louisville game as well.

You'll have to excuse me if I'm not ready to throw in the towel the first week of December. Maybe at some point I'll get there, and a loss to Gonzaga will nudge me further in that direction....but I'm nowhere close to that at this point.
I think 90% of the bad mouthing of any aspect of UK basketball is coming from Calapari not UK
supporters. Those people were Cal fans never UK fans. They never followed UK under any other coach. There are 5% who are fans of other schools who post as UK fans, and 5% who are true UK fans who genuinely care and criticize because of that care and want to win.
