    What happened???

Seems to be a bit of a ghost town these days.

Between long timers who are ALWAYS ACTIVE being M.I.A. to others changing their username to just a lack of posts in general....what the heck happened???

I know it's "football season"....but that usually doesn't stop people from posting about Kentucky basketball...but ever since the down time due to whatever was going on about a month ago, the traffic here has practically come to a screeching halt.

A core group who I've had a good relationship with for over 20 years is seemingly all gone. It's a group that really kept the forum afloat for a long time when we rarely got new members. Now, it seems like there's a new "clique" of old members and moderators who may or may not be handling things in ways that certain people agree with. Honestly, with them and Lighthouse gone, there's only a few people on here I care to interact with, Matt Dillon being one I've always had a good relationship with. It's one of those situations where if you've got a loyal employee who's been around a long time, you should probably welcome their input when you expand the store and remodel as opposed to listening to the new guy who thinks they know what's best.

In other words, and I'll likely make some people scoff when I say this, but the Wildcat Nat....ughhh, faithful has turned into the good ole boys network. Maybe they can put that on a t-shirt to sell.

I think it’s a matter of building a history together, which doesn’t happen overnight. But we’ll get there. I’m one of those 20 year posters, who used to be a moderator. The transition had nothing to do with stepping out of that title. The title really doesn’t matter here, though I was happy to see that KC had stepped up to an admin position. I’ve long thought he should. We have people who’ve always taken sabbaticals, surveyor being one. If I know anything, I know he’ll be back. Not that it matters, but I’ve been impressed with posters from Rivals who’ve joined this site. Thank you. It’s appreciated. The seasonal nature of sports means there will be ups and downs. I’m one who’d rather read what you have to say than post. We’ve been around so long we’ve lost some. Mel, little Gracie, Dwight Schrute, Lighthouse, etc. but we knew each other and their history because of time. Welcoming getting to know you all. In the past year,I lost my husband of 45 years and my mom. I own an HVAC company I’m trying my best to keep going in my husband’s absence. We’ll see. We are missing two private forums that helped us get to know each other, but only because we’d built a history together. Glad you all are here to build a history with. I’m sure we have a lot in common. Blueheretic, I was so glad to hear from you. You were so integral in making the Katrina family WCN adopted happy. I think your book was the last one my husband read cover to cover. He liked it.

Yeah ...y'all bring a helluva price tag to join a freaking forum to post thoughts and opinions. Charging people to post on a website what they're thinking or want to say??? Seriously ??? I wanted to join, but I didn't want to pay just for the 'privilege' of posting words. That doesn't sound like good tidings to me.....

I haven't been here before the last few months, but it's the off season for basketball. There's just not much I care to talk about during this time. I'm not into recruiting. I'm interested in the actual games by my team. I plan to ramp up more after the season starts. So far, I like this site much more than RR. That place was a cesspool.

We lost those private forums because of the way new, ughhhh, older members were acting in them. Again, it's a good ole boys club and the guys who are "in charge" aren't around, don't respond to messages, and let things slide for some they wouldn't for others. If you can't moderate with integrity, you shouldn't moderate at all.

I haven’t been here long enough to know, but every UK board seems to be going through some transition. Pope had a solid summer so not a ton to really go back and forth on. Hopefully once bball gets going, so will the discussion.

I didn’t see a problem with the way anyone was posting in the private forums at all. And I don’t claim to know why those forums were temporarily closed. I do know a lot of small changes for the better were in the works, so I supposed it was technical. We have a good group, old and new and always have. Something a Rivals transfer said early on really hit home with me, and that was that these forums are Especially great for those of us who live far away. I appreciate the connection. I can’t walk into a restaurant and ask “How are the Cats doing?” Like I can when I go back home. But I can read it and have a conversation about it here.

So I will chime in on this, just my opinion.

Perhaps some are just taking some time off until basketball season rolls around?

For the most part, the everyday regulars for years have had daily duties non stop year around. I can't see no reason at all why people would spend 20 plus years of life to just quit on a dime, makes no sense to me.

Someone mentioned the GOOD OL BOYS club. Well there may be some truth to that but not in that way, not the GOOD OL BOYS club, far and I mean Pluto galaxy far from that.

In my opinion, the reason activity is down is because it's the off season for bb. You can see a difference between last week and this week on the fb forum because this is a bye week. There's just not a lot to talk about at this time. As far as a clique, good ole boys club etc. if there is such a thing, involving WCN members, I don't know anything about it.

Like Pete, I very much appreciate this board. One of the blessings of age (I’m 63 years young) is that a person develops an appreciation for the important things in life, such as friendship. I literally never posted on RR because of the sewage, just tried to follow (I presumed) a few of the older heads and the more measured comments. I’m looking forward to basketball and the conversation that will follow here.

I'd love to know the name of Heretic's book. I'd like to read it.
