Was a Huge win for Pope and the national media to let everyone know KY was going to be if healthy a real contender to make a run. It also had to boost recruiting.

The 14 win over Wichita State is one of my favorite UK games. So much anxiety for that game.

I’ll give a nod to another game from last year, and it might be because I was there in person, but that comeback against Zaga was awesome. I remember sitting in a sea of Zaga fans down 18 to start the 2nd and thinking what the… Then Pope went 1-3-1 and completely changed the game. I had to wave goodbye to some jackoff Zaga fans as they left.

I'm getting to the game in Nashville this year. Should be a party.

My mind was scrambling trying to think and then I read this and this one is probably it. I remember running outside screaming when Knight hit that shot!

There's never been a shot in the history of basketball that looked like it was going in more than the buzzer-beating attempt Ohio St. took after Knight hit his game-winner.

It’ll be a blast! BBN did a good job of showing up in Seattle, but by tip off we were clearly outnumbered. It’ll be a home game in Nashville.

Zaga fans are an interesting group.

I agree on the 2011 tOSU win as best underrated win in recent years. Digging further back, I want to mention the 101-100 victory over Alabama in the second round of the 1979 SEC tournament. Coming off the 78 title UK had a somewhat down season. The SECT was resumed after a long hiatus. The Tide led 55-49 at the half. In the second half Truman Claytor went on a long range tear that stands up against against any in the annals of Wildcat lore. 11-14 from the field, 3-3 FT. Almost all in the second half. Macy added 22 pts, Dwight Anderson 19. An absolutely thrilling game that has been almost entirely lost to history.

No overtime. No three point shot.

For sake of differential, I'll mention some wins over Illinois. The 1984 Elite 8 win over the Illini to send the Cats to Joe B. Hall's last Final 4. People probably don't see it this way now, but I believe the win over Illinois advancing past the first weekend of the tournament in Pope's first season is definitely one after the disappointment through Cal's last years here.

I consider the wins vs Ohio State and Wichita State as some of UK's biggest tournament wins (outside of the Final 4/National Championships) since they were against # 1 seeds, more than I view them as underrated. These games will be mentioned for years to come due to their significance in the NCAA Tournament. Last year's 2nd Round win over Illinois will be underrated to me, because no one will ever claim it as the biggest win for UK in the Tournament when Final Fours and Championships are the standard. Fans will always talk about Final 4's, Championships, buzzer beaters, wins over rivals, and wins over 1 seeds as the best wins.

Lot of good ones mentioned here. Beating IU to go the FF in '75 was quite special. And stopped IU from 2 straight most likely. We have more wins than anyone in college basketball so it's hard to narrow them down. There's just so much!!

I remember thinking that we'd reach the Elite 8, but probably wouldn't make the Final Four. After all, we would be playing the #1 seed, and it was Tubby's first year. And then ,after we fell behind by 17 points with just over 9 minutes left in the second half....it didn't look good. Thankfully the payback for '92 was executed! 👍

Everyone remembers the duke comeback win in '98, but that Stanford win in the FF was stressful. Went to Overtime.

The win over Minnesota in 97 was crazy.

The Michigan win in 2014 should get talked about more.

The win over Notre Dame in the 2015 E8 was a game I would have bet the house we were going to lose at one point late in the second half. They were owning us for a long stretch there.

The Utah title game was stressful, too.

We were down by ten or so at halftime.

I tend to agree with you, except I'm the first person to mention it. As huge as that win was, that's kind of surprising.

You're right about the Stanford win. Same with Utah, if you really think about it. The difference between the Duke win and those wins is that the Duke win was unexpected. I think most people (I speak for myself, but I believe most other people as well) expected to beat Stanford and Utah. Tough games, though, no doubt.

The really satisfying part of the Utah win was I was living in Nashville at the time and had a group of Mormon missionaries that lived across the hall in my apartment. In '97 they asked if they could come over and watch Kentucky play Arizona in the championship game, and after they did they spent the entire game rooting for Arizona. That's why the following year when they still lived across the hall and wanted to watch the championship game between Kentucky and Utah. I once again let them . I REALLY enjoyed watching Kentucky win against Utah that night!!! 😂
