Watched enough film to know he can play plus he passes the eye test 1000%.

Does the season hinge on him,no.

Still, 6'11 7'5 wingspan that can do many things plus he's 22.

Still, if he was all that he would be in the NBA but for the college game , he will be a man amongst boys..

I agree but will leave it alone.

Hope he plays. I suspect it's a NCAA Kentucky problem as usual.

I think it’s the administration at UK that doesn’t know how to navigate these things. Other teams seem to not have an issue getting similar situations cleared. I know the NCAA hates us but there’s more to it than that, in my opinion.
I agree with this. I don't believe politics is the issue here at. It's the head shed at UK that appears to always drop the ball with getting foreign students on campus and eligible.

I don't care what side of the aisle you land on. That guy is a creepy psychopath. We should all be able to call a spade a spade and laugh at that.

All Jones said was that a source in the basketball office indicated to him that the visa process was complicated and they were concerned about getting him over here. Not because of bans or anything crazy like that. Just that it's a more complicated process than it's been in recent years. That sounds pretty on-point to me.
That’s my statement, not the crazed Miller. I just happen to agree with it.

I have zero doubts things aren’t more complicated. I just don’t think anyone knows exactly what is going on that is not named Pope or Barnhart. And believe me, the Pope camp may be the tightest lipped staff in the nation.

It's refreshing to have that again.

All you had to do was give Chin Coleman a double shooter and a shrimp ****************tail from Jeff Ruby's and he'd spill the entire department's social security numbers.

Since you asked, the examples are pretty easy to find. Here’s over 500,000 people previously here legally now up for deportation through one action alone, and they’re taking similar action against about 240,000 Ukrainian refugees and thousands of Afghan refugees. These are not cartel members or even people who jumped the border in the middle of the night. They came here through a legal process made available by the previous administration and are now having that protection stripped simply because the current administration disagrees with that policy and doesn’t want them here. That’s not even getting into the widely publicized new directives within the DOJ to strip as
many people of actual naturalized citizenship as possible. This administration is anti-immigrant, full stop.

Just a friendly reminder: let's keep this discussion specific to Jelavic.

If you want to debate the complexities of immigration, we've got a great political board.

Are you referring to the 250,000 criminals who the last admin let in on a "2nd chance"?
                  Just asking for clarification

Hoping Jelavic makes it. Would be really interesting watching him.
as for the immigrant stuff...Canadian players are just as immigrant as anything and we've had several really good ones.
I'd say this is just specific to this particular player.

There were never meant to be any insinuations. The explicit information was that due to changing priorities in this administration regarding immigration and visas in particular, there's some concern that Jelavic won't make it stateside in time for the season.

Nobody ever insinuated that he couldn't come because of an immigration ban or anything of the sort.

There's also the chance that it's simply an eligibility thing and he'll be here in the coming weeks. I was just passing on the information that Matt Jones got from a source around the basketball program, and he has some good ones again now that Cal is gone.

I think some used my original post as inkblot for their own feelings about immigration and our current administration. Now if you want to come over to the political forum, I'll be glad to engage in some spirited conversation and share my personal opinions. But this isn't the thread for it.

All info is good info. Be it what ever. Visas are different. Not sure on all the rules but School Visa (if that is allowed being the Student players are now making $$) and work visa 2 different things. Maybe some of you guys know better than I as I do not keep up with that kind of thing, but no matter, hope AJ gets to campus and is able to play. Hopefully he gets here in July. But our luck Pope would have signed the one guy in Europe that either cannot get a visa or has issues with documents and does not make it only to play for someone else. Heck might be why CMP signed Hawthorne.

I'm not gonna get up in arms about it because I have no impact on what happens. Hope we get AJ here sooner than later so he can get up to speed with the team and contribute meaningfully this year.
