You'd have to find the ones who are independents. Wouldn't be guys like Lunardi because of the St. Bonaventure connection...but he sucks anyway.

      St. joes, but you’re correct.

Im just not sure who might be independent. If you don’t have an Alma mater, not uncommon, but to not have a geographical tie to a school, less common.

Even Lunardi is complaining about the lack of transparency in what metrics are important. Of course he’s complaining that the year to year inconsistency messes with his prediction accuracy, not that his team got screwed. But still valid.

Speaking on Kentucky Sports Radio, Calipari was asked his thoughts on paying college athletes. In response, he unveiled a blueprint for the highest level of college athletics. There would be four super conferences in Calipari's plan and each would include 16 to 18 colleges, depending on how many join the coalition. The conferences would be separated geographically: Western (traditional Pac-10, Big 12 teams), Northern (Big Ten, Big East), Eastern (Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East) and Southern (Southeastern Conference, Big 12).

In football, Calipari suggested that each conference would crown a champion that would advance to a four-team playoff for the national championship. All other teams would be eligible to play in traditional bowls.

In basketball, Calipari said all 64 to 72 teams would make the NCAA Tournament. He said the coalition would generate enough revenue that member schools could pay room and board plus $3,000 to $4,000 a year for each athlete in every sport. As for compliance, Calipari said the leagues would audit each other."

With all that being said, most of us old school fans who like tradition probably thought or still think this is a horrible idea but Calipari has been outspoken about the NCAA for many years.

Maybe this is why he chose to do things the way he has done it?

With NIL in place it doesn't matter now but I do believe all along he wanted players paid for there services which is why he never had a problem getting them to the next level asap.
This is supposedly already in the making mainly in D1 football. Where it stands now is anybody's guess.

The NCAA won't be involved. They are the reason it will happen.

                  "They"..........
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Looking at the final NET this morning it's apparent that it was used.....some.
louisvilles seed was in line with NET. So was Kentucky. Duke was #1 Auburn 2 in NET.
Gonzaga was 8th in NET so according to that is way underseeded. WVU was left out even though their NET would get them in. North Carolina was in as an 8th or 9th seed (????)

In short rankings in whatever form are there, but i really cant decide how they were used on selection sunday.

Gonzaga's NET ranking baffled me all year. It made no sense from the beginning, and I'm gonna say it was mostly because they started really high with the win against a team everybody thought was going to be really good, Baylor, and then they didn't drop much from losses to good teams. Then their wins in that conference were mostly crazy lopsided...and the NET factors in point spread.

The committee was correct not to use the NET with them, because it didn't fit.

So if this does happen, does this mean any National Championship is watered down moving forward? The NIT doesn't mean the same as a NCAA Championship nor does a Basketbol Super Ligi Championship carry the same weight as the NBA Championship.

In regards to basketball, right now we have 8 Championships.

If a new Sec League develops and scraps the NCAA and let's say we win it, are we back to square one?

Seems to me the NCAA needs new leaders and innovators that will run it's business better..

I have no idea how all this would play out. I heard about this several years ago through some friends. The main sport would be football with all other sports going along. There would be 4 Power Conferences of 16 Teams each, which would be 64 teams. Then, conferences started adding teams and here we are.

The 2025 NCAA Tournament starts with a team running the Laettner play, it gets broken up, and they hit a buzzer beater anyway.

Now the talent from North Carolina starts coming to life.

NIL pay to play reminds me of the NBA, just do enough to get in and hit the reset button, tournament time is a new season for everyone one.

                                EDIT..

                                Somebody making a statement
