    SEC Tournament Thread: Semis

    Here we go.

SEC Tournament kicks off today with what's usually the four bottom-feeder games, but this year there are some wild NCAA Tournament implications with these games.

It tips off at 1:00 with Arkansas/South Carolina.

    Vanderbilt/Texas at 3:30.

    Mississippi State/LSU at 7:00.

And then "our" game, Oklahoma/Georgia at 9:30. Kentucky gets the winner of that one, of course.

    So it begins.

If 3:15 et I see where you know who is sent home packing, won't hurt my feelings...

I guess you'd want Oklahoma to win that game tonight because we match up with them better, but I'm a big believer in the revenge factor in March. So in that way we might want Georgia.

However Georgia is really hot. In their recent 4-game winning streak there's a win against Florida in there, and they're really the only team that has solved Florida recently.

So I'd pull for Oklahoma...but I wouldn't get out of my seat and cheer or anything.

Hypothetically speaking, if a team was to defeat Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn in a span of 5 days would that make them NCAA champions lol lol....

All I want is for us to get as many games under our belt before the NCAA tournament. Still think it's important for Butler to get reaffiliated with the teammates on the floor and gain chemistry. That's a win for us in my opinion..

I'm a big believer in that revenge factor too and that's what worries me about Oklahoma. We beat them at their place in a wildly emotional contest that almost devolved to fisticuffs (first time I've been able to use that term on this forum -- you're welcome) and I worry they'd have it in for us. We're better than both teams though, so maybe it doesn't really matter?

You would hope if it's Georgia that the Andrew Carr we saw at Missouri will be able to do a better job against Asa Newell.

I actually have long believed it was Newell who injured Carr's back by slamming him into the floor in that game.

UK got jobbed in that game. I watched UGA a couple other times and it appears that is the way the play 100% of the time.

Kentucky is a better basketball team than Georgia and Oklahoma, so I don't really care.

Counterpoint, Kentucky lost to one and came a hair's breadth of losing to the other. So we're "better" (if you consider the fact that the officiating in the Georgia game was comicaly terrible) but it's not by a wide margin.

You would hope that the crowd tomorrow night will give us a push, but that hasn't been the case in recent years.

The thing that concerns me is the best team doesn't always win.

Since 2015, the lower (or better) seed has a 22-15 record against the higher (worse) seed on Thursday of the SEC Tournament.

So at least on the first big day of the tournament, there's a relatively close split between teams and there've been a bunch of upsets in the last decade.

Billy Richmond just hit his first three of the season in the South Carolina game.

Cal using a 7 man rotation...that could get dicey if they get in foul trouble
