He knows. He is just stubborn. He has backed into luck with the Livingston situation.
Stubborn is the best word for him. I don’t know how much scouting of recruits he does at this point of his career. Maybe he does a lot. Maybe he depends on his staff. Maybe he depends on rivals.

But my 1st real look at Chris was in the Bahamas. Highlight videos of him dunking on high school kids don’t show me much. In the Bahamas he looked like a solid wing to me. Maybe when Cal signed Chris he figured with Sharp on the floor the only place Chris could find minutes was at the 4? But c’mon man, you’ve coached him half a year now. Get to know him.

Our core group (since the injuries) got 174 of the 200 minutes yesterday. But the minutes from Ware, Collins and Theiro were truly valuable. I’m not calling for more minutes for Ware, but I, like Will, appreciate what he gives us. And if he can just not go flying at every ball fake his defense is pretty solid.

I like Lance, too. Always gives you all he has to give, and everything about him smacks of late period Tubby. Lance and Bobby Perry would have been a formidable duo.

He apparently is one of the most popular guys in the locker room, too. I'd really like him to buck the trend of guys leaving early and actually celebrate his four year Senior Night.

Cal knew Sharpe was never stepping foot on the court in a UK uniform even when he was recruiting Chris.

So why would Cal agree to this? What was his endgame?

Except that we weren’t getting Lance then, it was more like Morakinyo Williams and Hip Hop Sheray.

I agree with your point, just felt the need to take a little jab at Tubby

Don't forget about Marvin Stone and Jason Parker.

I really like Lance, too, and if Bryce Hopkins had been given the same opportunity last year as Chris Livingston this year, he would have been a real contributor on a much better team.

                      Yeah, I've had that thought.

I'm not sure who he would've played over last year though. It isn't like that team was struggling until the end. Brooks and Toppin were a serviceable duo at the very least, and the feeling about Toppin was always that he should've gotten more time. He put Hopkins on the wing a little but then you've got Grady out there...

Tough call on that one. But I agree that we'd be in a much better place had Hopkins stayed (duh).

When you consider that Grady could barely walk, maybe Hopkins could have spared him a few minutes.

Keep people talking about the number one player in America being a UK uniform. Any publicity is good publicity for a car salesman like Cal.

He knew the people in Shaedon's ear were never going to allow him to play at UK.

Yeah...but man until probably the last two weeks Grady was really good. Really, really good.

I never understood why Grady claimed his injury was why he struggled in those last few games. Guy wouldn't shoot the ball even when he was wide open. What's that have to do with not being able to walk?

                            That was a weird situation.

Oh, I know. I was just speaking from 20/20 hindsight.

I think Grady kind of got the yips at the very end of the season. His foot problems probably contributed to that. Same thing happened to Devin Booker down the stretch in 2015. For such a dynamite shooter, that guy couldn't hit anything.

If you can’t jump into your jump shot, you’re probably less inclined to try.
