Wallace is getting tired from trying to carry this team. Heck of a player.

This isn't true. 20-11 and 1 win in the SEC tourney will probably get us in. Will that happen? Who knows.👍 2Comment

Tale of two halves. That first half Kentucky team can play with anybody in the country, reminiscent of some of our more entertaining teams. Played hard, ran their stuff, hit shots. The second half team reverted to what we saw at South Carolina and Alabama.
The bottom line is that this team just isn't good or talented enough to "show up." The margin for error is razor thin.
One thing is true, thought: losing three games at Rupp in a season is unacceptable. And we're definitely going to lose the fourth to Tennessee, right?👍 1Comment

I agree 20-11 and 1 tourney win should get us there. But where are the 4 wins coming from? UGA should be 1, and Vandy 2. But do we beat UGA, Miss. St, Florida and Arkansas on the road, or UT, Auburn and Vandy at home? Tough row to hoe.John 3:3

Cals comment about why Collins barely played in 2nd half," You got to go with guys that got you here, it's about the bigger picture". The bigger picture , what on earth is he talking about, what's bigger than winning the game you are playing. That's one of the craziest things I have heard him say, and that's saying something.👍 1Comment

We're still tied for 4th in the SEC with Auburn, and we have them at Rupp (whatever that's worth this year).
As disappointing as everything is right now, Kentucky still controls its destiny in the league.Comment

The first half Kentucky didn't guard anyone though.
That team we saw defensively last night looked like the team that was on the court three weeks or so ago. Arkansas did what they wanted on virtually every possession of the game.
If you want to get in track meets like that you better have a few ballers, because you're gonna have to score right with them. Well, we have one baller at this point and he can't do it all. Thus: devastating L, and all of a sudden things are looking very bleak 'round here.Comment

Going on with defense...
I think something funky has happened with Cal's defensive philosophy.
Yeah, most of what we're seeing is personnel. Physically weak guys. Not a lot of athletes. Obviously no shot-blockers to speak of.
But it's weird when you watch Kentucky play D for long stretches starting at the end of last season and into this year. It's almost like they're just "doin' stuff." No methodology, no plan.
Last night, for instance, they started in that 2-3. He clearly had an idea. One possession is all they stayed in it. Never saw it again.
That's suggestive of a coach who won't stick to the plan he set out. That game last night reminded me so much of St. Peter's. Teams are just getting the ball to where they want it without any pushback from us. Cal's teams used to be built on toughness and grit and now we're just soft.Comment
