And he can if he plays with energy like he is today.

Toppin has looked good because he’s made his shots. But the shots he’s taken should have been rim runs. He’s catching the ball in the lane with no one behind him. A tough forward takes that to the rack for a dunk and foul.

The biggest difference in Toppin today is, he's playing with energy and purpose. He's going after rebounds. We need this game from him all the time.

Pretty solid half from Kentucky. Our interior defense is still soft, but that's more of a personnel issue.

          I liked the effort.

Also I about fell out of my chair when Kentucky ran that back screen for Collins in the last minute. One of the first sets Kentucky has run from the bench all year that has worked.

Can Toppin do this against good competition? If so we have a good chance to turn things around.
Wheeler has had a pretty good game also.

Has Wheeler come off the floor once?

Glad the basketball team is playing well because the Football CATS is a disaster right now

Looks like CJ’s injury makes Sahvir a 39.5 minute guy. I’d like to see more Livingston. Thought he looked good.

They’re playing better with better energy but let’s not go crazy, this is Louisville and they are absolutely terrible. Good game for confidence but lots of things going on is going to continue to hurt them against good teams.

I would trade Wheeler all day for Ellis. Toppins playing good but he’s just not smart.

The thing is though energy has been a major deal. It’s not the only thing with this team but it’s one of the more substantial things.

If we play hard going forward we’ll be okay.

The line was 22.5 and UK won by 23 points.

And I don't think Toppin is dumb. I just think the guy is one of those raw players whose athleticism far outweighs his skill. Those kinds of players better be able to play with energy and confidence because chances are those jumpshots aren't going in every night. Toppin's issue has been when they don't go in, his confidence disappears and he starts backing down.

He was hitting those 17-footers today. That won't happen every game. And the test for him will be when it doesn't happen, he still has to be an effective player out there. Can't go 0-4 on jumpers and then just stop playing because you're sulking.

That isn't basketball IQ. This is a guy who's played a valuable role for us in the past. Now his role is way different and he has to at times be one of the two or three who carries the team, and he's struggled with that adjustment.

It's like he woke up today. The last few games something was wrong and it wasn't his athleticism or his shooting eye. It had to be something in his head.
