No he hasn't been playing the last few games. He did however play enough the first several games. He's just not good though. He's soft and can't really do much so I don't see where he will be any help whatsoever. I think this is a ploy to keep him here so he won't transfer or trying to get him showcased to help him transfer.

We don't want anybody to transfer because you never know when a player's going to click. We haven't had a lot of them at Kentucky but we've had a few guys you never thought would be anything and found the right situation late in their careers. I didn't think Derek Willis would be nearly as good as he ended up being, for example. Deandre Liggins. Josh Harrellson obviously.

The list isn't long but it's a list.

If there are chemistry issues on this team then what you might be seeing with guys is locker room stuff. If that's the case you might be able to clean out some issues simply because certain players leave.

We can't lose everybody. He'll have to bring back two or three guys who can play a little to go with the youth next season.

It's hard to find guys who can play on this team but we have some who have certain tools. Daimion Collins has *something* with his shooting touch and his ungodly athleticism. He hasn't been able to harness it...but he's on a dud of a team and his dad died.

I'd like to see some guys return rather than see them go to other places and put up 29 and 23.

If this season continues on its present course I bet some of next year's class never set foot on this campus.Cal looks tired defeated and out of answers. The University President needs to step in after the season and replace zBarnhart and Cal, it will hurt for a while but how can it get much worse than it already is.

Unless he's tired and out of answers because he has no interest in coaching teams with normal college dudes.

That's one theory I have. I've no idea if it's correct but I've wondered for awhile if Cal looks burnt out because he just isn't interested in the coaching part of coaching.

I have wondered if that fire he seems to be lacking will come back when we have a team full of NBA types--or at least kids with NBA attributes who will be on NBA radars.

This team is garbage. Cal has no answers.

But he isnt going anywhere. It is what it is.

I saw that. Cal sucks right now, but consider the source. Can’t imagine that guy was ever pleased with his son’s experience at UK.

It seems like each year I read posts Cal will stay because of next year's class.

Just being an unpaid coaching psychiatrist, I will put these thoughts out there:

These are the kids Cal wanted. At least for the most part.
I know 'soft' has been a word we've heard a lot, but its really obvious....and these are kids you went after.
Same with one and gone kids....those are who (everybody) goes after....except it seems we have had a plethora of guys that were gone and didn't need to be or gone to other schools. Somethings going on there.
I think we all had the wind taken out our sales years ago with a perfect season going out the window....and I really think it took Calipari's mojo away.

Lack of an offensive strategy, lack of team chemistry, lack of a ability to shoot free throws consistently, and on.

This not a team. Not by any stretch. This is a group of guys that lack focus and intensity and direction. Perhaps even discipline.

Will it get better? 8 ball says ask again later.
                  But things are not good.

Eh, maybe. It hasn’t been like next year’s class though.

We really shouldn’t let a group of high schoolers hold the program hostage but what are we gonna do? Cal’s contract is too enormous, the buy-out too daunting. At the end of the afternoon we’re really at his mercy more than anyone’s.

The exact reason Barnhart needs to go with him.

John Calipari fell guilty of bringing a free agency approach to a college game. He’s like the kid who cheated through so many tests and is exposed during a final exam.

He did it to himself…and also to us.

As Will said, he'll be here at least one more season so he can coach the team of all-stars he has coming in.

I've wanted Cal to stick around one more season so we could watch this class play. Now, I'm just not sure if they'll be good. It's more than just Xs and Os, we've always known that's not Cal's strong suit. The players just don't seem "coached up". Not in sync at all, terrible spacing, confusion on both offense and defense. At this level, that's not ALL on the head coach, but he oversees it all. The ol' buck has to stop somewhere.

I won't be sad if he walks away after this season. We'd miss out on potentially a great class, but ultimately it could be better for all parties.

(Edit: I'm not gonna start leading protests outside Craft or anything. Unless y'all want? I could come up if you want.)

We could at least rip the Band-Aid off quicker.

Next year if we have everybody leave, which I suspect we will off this team, then that team will be too young IMO. It'll fulfill Cal's dream of having five potential draft picks starting but you can't win titles like that unless you get really lucky. We've talked about how young Cal's early teams were but they always had older guys anchoring them.

                              The problem is the buy-out.

The only way Kentucky remedies it is to have a kind of fan revolt or something and turn Rupp into a version of what Commonwealth looked like at the end of Joker's era. And Kentucky basketball fans are loathe to do that because we really have a hard time quitting Kentucky...even though we tell ourselves we're going to.

We might have to march on Richmond Road if this keeps devolving.
