Kentucky Basketball is in Very Bad Shape

Right now UK is at the point we were in Tubby's last two years and hemming close to where we were in the Gillispie era.

    The program is in crisis.

It is, and a change at the top is all that can get it fixed. We have a power forward with no power, players look so tense they can't buy a basket, and we can't hit a free-throw. Oscar either gets the rebound or the other team gets it. We have a pg who loves to dribble and can't shoot. And we have some good assistant coaches that never say a word.

Kentucky clearly has chemistry issues on this team. You can see it plain as day.

If you go back to the end of last year, chemistry issues.

And two years ago in the COVID year, big time chemistry issues.

Cal had a knack in his first few years of getting his teams to gel (minus the 2013 season). He's had a run here of late of not being able to keep teams together, of seemingly having weird spats going on, and of not being able to connect to players.

Not a fun time to be a UK fan for sure. Not going to pile on more than my other post. Just hope the man goes away. Dont go away angry, just go away.

100% --- You can see it in the players and coaches... Wheeler/Chin at the end when Wheeler fouled out. That's the only way to get him out of the game.... Did anyone see Bruiser at the end of the game sitting on the bench. This team is completely lost and it's not going to get better playing the same lineups. Honestly, this would have been a good game for Cal to get thrown out of.

He's locked in because of the recruiting class next year.

Can't imagine him staying longer than next year but by the same token I DEFINITELY can't imagine him walking away before he has a chance to coach them.

I think Cal retires after next season.

Change something up. Do a real tweak. Anything! What do you have to lose? I mainly come to this forum for football now because I haven't watched an entire UK basketball game in almost 4 years. I can't stand this style of basketball. I remember the Pelphery and Farmer teams that had a very low level of talent but refused to give up because they loved their school and their teammates. If these teams fought till the end but lost I would be happy. In my eyes they disrespect what I have loved my whole life. Cal simply it's not a good coach. There's a league full of all stars that played for Cal. We should be legendary. We are the new Indiana.

One of the softest teams I can remember. Toppin is regressing by the second. What a Floppin!

This just isn’t fun anymore. I think if they’re not careful this team is going to be as bad as the 9-17 team was in the Covid year. The record will be a little better because there are more gimmes but the output on the floor won’t be.

Likewise I think (hope) Cal coaches next year’s class and hangs it up. He gets his yearlong send off with a dynamite class and hangs it up. This just isn’t cutting it and we’re getting run off the floor by teams who are middle of the road. I dread to think what happens when this team plays Arkansas or Tennessee.

Cal was asked in the post game conference what needs to change? He replied “Some of it is personnel. We will do different lineups, different things and that is it.”
                          That was real informative 😡

Collins didn't play tonight I don't think? If he did he wasn't out there long.

He really hasn't been playing very much whatsoever. I assumed it was because Lance was getting so much run.
