So about a buck for every blown defensive assignment in the St. Peter's game.

Cal is not going anywhere. He is already out recruiting which tells me he is planning on being here for the foreseeable future. Common sense would dictate that recruits want to know his status before committing or considering UK.

He was out recruiting when he was seriously considering the Cavs job, too.

Cal won’t be making any announcements unless he does decide to hang it up. He knows how upset we are with recent results but he barely acknowledges it. He has his lifetime contract—which in essence told him he was bigger than the program—and probably feels that to address his status would be to admit there is reason for the university and the fans want something different. Unless someone offers him something he’d rather do—NBA front office?—he’ll keep on keeping on like everything is all good.

With guys like Cal it's difficult to read their intentions because the money is so large and because Cal is one of these guys who seems to be always operating. We know this after the fact as these stories have come out about his interest in certain jobs.

There's really no way to read Cal. The only thing I know because it has happened is that he's stayed at UK a little longer than I thought. I assumed he'd be here for 7 or 8 years. Next season will be 14 years. That's a long time in this sport.

My only thought on the subject is if he's lost his edge, I wish he'd resign. Cal's done a lot of good during his time here, both on and off the court and I'd hate to see his legacy tarnished any more than it already is.

Cal reminds me a little of Tom Izzo.

Starting in 1999 and moving through 2010 Izzo had an unbelievable run. Six Final Fours. One championship. Several conference titles.

Since that time he's been to two Final Fours and has averaged more than 10 losses a season.

Those kinds of guys are untouchable. If they leave it's just because they want to leave. There's nothing an AD, any booster, or any group of incensed fans can do to them.

As a fan you just have to hope they find their mojo again because it's easy in any walk of life for the super-rich to just coast.

Don’t think he is recruiting just to to leave. May be wrong and if so, he may be telling the recruits I will be at UK for so many more years. Never know for sure with Cal. I also think his ego will keep him from leaving after a poor season.

Hate to say it, but even though I've been listening to the Cats since Issel days and went to UK during the Robey/Givens days, the last little drop of care I give to Cal and his teams went down the drain with Thursday's loss. I'm sure I'll still sign on here occasionally to see what's transpiring up there in the Bluegrass State, but life is too short to keep dragging out year to year hoping that this is the year they win it all again. Hope I can somehow gain my "fandom" back, but doubt I ever will under Cal. Love this site and have been signing into it for a LONG time to keep abreast with happenings. Thanks for everyone who keeps it going.

At $9 million per year it doesn't take long for a buyout to add up to a ridiculous number. I believe the number is correct. Story is usually pretty accurate on such topics. I recall reading somewhere that after last season it was a little north of $50 million.

How much do you think a "lifetime contract" is worth at 9 Mil a year?
