Hard to argue with that because it happens every year. But even with Maxey—I’m thinking he lived up to the hype in his lone college year and was drafted late first round/maybe even early 2nd. Not a lottery pick. I wish Tyty well. But I could come up with 14 safer picks if I owned a team

Pretty obvious that Caliparis huge edge his first years was recruiting. BUT that faded.
we can debate till the cows come home about the one and gone guys. We all have our lines in the sand about that.
JMO....the guy has never been a super in game coach.
Nor have I seen him be a great developer of talent. That can be said for many coaches these days.
it appears feast or famine....and either the game has passed him, or he has lost some of his edge, or he is just frazzled
The man has had great success AND bad failures. If he stays, I pull for the Cats, but same if he leaves.
That being said.....I'm not real sure who could stand the Kentucky spotlight and expectation right now.👍 1Comment

Yeah, we talked about this last year spring and summer.
At first I think I argued that he wasn't frazzled and he seemed the same as he'd always been. Then I sorta changed my mind because I thought he looked pretty lethargic at BBM this year. Then this season started and I was convinced he definitely was in trouble. Then January came and we beat Kansas and Tennessee to death and I thought, "Man, this team is special." Then we fell apart at the very end and we revert to kind of what I thought about Calipari in March 2021.
I thought Cal was nervous as all heck late in the year. That's sort of different with Cal. I would imagine there were things happening behind the scenes that we'll never know about. But definitely something went on with the team.
So he definitely has lost his edge but it's really hard to know why, exactly. It could be getting older. It could be that he just isn't as sharp as he was, and as we all know he was never a John Wooden over there anyway. It could be just a run of bad luck.
Doesn't really matter though. It is what it is, as they say, and if there was pressure on Cal coming into this season there's going to be enormous pressure next season.Comment

For the sake of the program, he needs to decide and announce a decision now rather than later. If he decides to leave, Mitch needs all the time he can get to find a replacement.John 3:3

I hadn't thought about the necessary timing involved. If Cal decides to pull the plug, wonder if Mitch would offer an executive, in-house position? Otherwise, what would the severance package be worth?
Like they say, 'oh to be a fly on the wall for that conversation'.Comment
