I admire the passion, but Kentucky has some of the stupidest fans in the world.

The program has had countless players over the years who couldn't get a lot of time as freshmen but had really good careers.

Collins' body is a major problem. You can see him just getting pushed around out there. He's got tremendous shooting touch though for his size and obviously unbelievable athleticism.

I hope he sticks it out and puts in the work to get better. Kid's got crazy upside.

The comment was regarding Sharpe…not Collins.

Pretty sure they're discussing Collins. That's who Downes mentioned in the other post that was being quoted.

Anyway I have no feelings one way or the other with Sharpe. It'll play out how it plays out. I said this back when the Sharpe thing first blew up, but Kentucky has "sold its soul" to several phenom teenagers since Cal has been here. Sharpe would just be the next in line.

Cal is partly to blame for that and partly victimized by his own success. In these dynamics what we never get is what the family wants. If the family wants him to not play and to go pro, there's not much Cal can do.

The only way to ward against it is to not take those kinds of players to begin with, and yet Cal has taken them from the beginning. And he'll continue to take them.

If we don't like the situation, we'll just have to wait on the next guy to come to Kentucky because he'll have his own way of doing it. For now this is what we've got: the roulette wheel of freighted risk that is taking on soon-to-be multimillionaires and banking on them playing in college for one year. It's a futures game that we've won more than we've lost since Cal has been here--but there is always that risk lingering over the situation. Cal clearly is more than willing to take on that risk.

And also, if we're talking players who weren't playing yesterday Shaedon Sharpe didn't come to my mind.

Who I thought about was C.J. Fredrick and what a blow his injury was.

Absolutely. We’ve sorely missed Grady’s shooting.

Tbh though, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to count on Fredrick. When it’s time to shop the transfer portal, Cal should operate as if Fredrick isn’t on the team until the latter proves he’s going to be able to produce.

That isn’t a criticism; just a potentially depressing truth about the reality of his health.

You'd hope the surgery will fix some things with him. It could be that he'd needed the surgery for awhile and they put it off.

Hope so. I’m just saying Cal should have contingencies in place since Fredrick’s history suggests he won’t play every game in a season. We won’t know if the surgery was the cure-all until he makes it from November to March intact.
