I bet Chris Mack is the happiest guy around. Getting out and with money as well.

I've done some snooping on the U6 Rivals board. I'd say more people are opposed to Kenny than in favor of him.

The school probably had a good case to fire him with cause, in which case they would owe him nothing. Both sides meet somewhere in the middle to avoid a protracted lawsuit. Which is another thing U-6 doesn't need right now.

Wouldn’t they need to fire him sometime around his mistakes to have a good “cause?”

Can they let everything be fine until he loses 5 of 6 games and then pretend they’re firing him for last spring? He’s obviously out for losing. I don’t know why he wouldn’t fight for every penny. Maybe it’s just so that his wife can feel comfort in her home town.

I wonder why? He seems to have a lot going for him. He seems to be very qualified, he's a former player and someone you would think could unify the fanbase. Perhaps the Cardinal faithful are hoping for a marquee name.

Not sure I’d call him “very” qualified. I love the guy, but at the end of the day he’s never been a head coach.

Never been a HC, but has served his apprenticeship under one of the best in the business (Cal) at a school (UK) with one of the most demanding fanbases in college bb. We won't know until when and/or if he tries it but I have a feeling he'd make a fine HC.

Matt, UL financially is a black hole. The athletic department is an open wound and it's finances are in a free fall. For two reasons they won't hire a marquee name. What established, winning coach would go there? The place is a dysfunctional mess. I suspect not many. Secondly, they simply can't afford it. IF KP is smart, he should run quickly from ANY offer from UL.

I sort of thought this about Chris Mack. The guy stepped away from a pretty good thing at Xavier.

As much as we hate it, UofL has a solid basketball tradition. I don't know about their coffers, but it's odd that all of these universities magically find the money when they need it.

So I think they could pull Bruce Pearl if they want him. That's an exponentially better job than what he's in now, even with all the madness UofL has gone through.

I wouldn't hire Payne if I were them. I love KP, but his personality isn't dynamic enough. He will not succeed there.

If I'm UL..I take a shot at Kevin Willard ..he's done a pretty good job at Seton Hall

UofL is a top job. Those jobs aren’t for rookies.

That is one of the reasons posted, never been a head coach. However, the main reason given is his association with UK. Lot of conspiracy theory crap.

One of the betting sites actually has posted odds on the UL coach. Top four are
                            • Kenny Payne +400
                            • Scott Davenport +500
                            • Kevin Willard +500
                            • Steve Forbes +600
Bruce Pearl at the bottom of the list.

                            Entire list: https://www.si.com/college/louisvill...louisville-job
