That absolutely horrible missed moving screen that leveled Maryland's point guard is the kind of BS officials let Huggins coached teams get away with ALL THE FREAKING TIME! If they would call all the damn illegal screens WVA's starting 5 would foul out in the first half.

If West Virginia holds on for the win it will be another rough game.....they play a lot like CincyComment

I haven't seen Kentucky bothered by any pressure this year outside of just maybe isolated possessions. We should be able to break it and get dunks on the back end if we play the way we usually do.Comment

Physical, rough play will not bother this team. They thrive in it. Now that doesn't mean that they are going to get their way every time on offense or that it won't be difficult, but these guys don't back down.
I honestly think they welcome it.Comment

With this Kentucky team you have to be a little concerned with complacency.
In that way West Virginia winning might be a good thing. There's a huge built-in back-narrative: John Calipari's 2-8 record against Bob Huggins, and what Huggins team did to Cal's first UK team.
You know that's going to give Cal some extra fire this week--and that's a good thing.Comment

So, while I disagree that we play our best against physical teams, I still don't think it'll matter against WVU.Comment

I don't think we like when teams really squeeze us into halfcourt games and then get physical.
When we're forced to play with urgency, we usually play well. One exception is Louisville, the team West Virginia is probably most similar to. Andrew Harrison had a really bad game and we just never could get into a rhythm.
Most of the time though we thrive against teams that pressure us because our guards just don't turn the ball over. But West Virginia's press is probably the most aggressive (and chippy at times) that we'll have seen.Comment

I certainly don't think we thrive in those games. Look at how we played against Cincy, Georgia, TAMU, at times LSU - we prevailed each and every time, but teams that initiate physicality usually give us the most trouble. Fortunately, none of those teams have been good enough at anything else, while we've been strong across the board for the entire season. I also don't think WVU is as physical as some of the teams I just mentioned - probably not as much as Cincy, for example - and as Will said, they'll also try to run, which plays right into our hands.
So, while I disagree that we play our best against physical teams, I still don't think it'll matter against WVU.
In those games that you mentioned, we only have to look at how UK responded. I would argue those games brought them closer together as a team.
When told how Cincy was going to play, Andrew responded by simply saying, "Looking forward to it."
And then just watch how poised a guy like Tyler Ullis plays in those games , or how Andrew not only drove to the basket against Cincy, but didn't back down from contact to get those much needed And-1's.
Is it the preferred playing style? I would probably say not, and I'd say that for about 95% of college basketball teams. But it's certainly not a style that Kentucky is uncomfortable with.Comment

WVA's quickness and strength at guard will give us some problems. This would be a good time for Booker to get hot from outside...Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... This team has the ability to shoot the ball from three, the 2010 team could not. With the Harrisons, Booker, and Ulis, we have four guys who can hurt you when left open. I am interested to see how Huggins handles this game because the pressure hasnt bothered us at all this year, with the exception of one or two plays here and there. When we break the press they have a very important decision to make. Give up a lob or give up an open three. I dont know what WV's depth looks like, but I think we win this game by double digits. After the Cincy game being so chippy, I think the refs pay a little closer attention and call it tighter in the beginning which will force WV to be less physical.Comment

But West Virginia's the far different team. This WVU team plays nothing like that one. That team was big across the front line and physical at guard. In a lot of ways that WVU team was like this year's Arizona team.
This West Virginia team is a scrappy, press-you-all-over-the-court team like Arkansas. But their press is way more effective than Arkansas'.Comment
