Approval/disapproval rating doesn't mean the fan wants the coach gone. Only means they aren't happy with the results.

Of course that number refers to right now...but there's been a little bit of consternation about Cal that's been growing the last three or four years. We've had a couple of really solid teams, but we can all see the results are not where they were. When you add this in to what's happening with this team...yeah, I'd say that approval rating would be super low.

Of those who want Cal gone? I wouldn't know how many of those there are. Probably 5-8% or so.

But that's a separate question than whether fans would be okay with Cal going. I think that number is probably pretty high.

        @KyleTucker_ATH
I tried to clarify with Calipari how many available tomorrow: “At this point, I don’t know. But I think it’ll be most of the guys. I don’t think it’ll be like five guys or six guys. As we speak right now, there’s nothing COVID-related.”
You can see the smoke coming out.

Calipari used to be very good at keeping things in-house.

Now even that door can’t stay closed.

Letter in our local newspaper regarding Cal. The author said he would wear his UK clothing inside out as long as Cal was the coach at UK.

I brought this up two months ago, and that this sentiment that had been slowly building was quickly gaining steam, and was pretty much dismissed as being inaccurate and overblown lol

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I for one am not even close to ready to kick him out the door yet. This will only be his second season where he is not bringing a team to the tournament that doesn't at minimum have a chance to make a final four run. Has this year sucked.....very badly, but look around, its not just us. I know that KU, Duke, and UNC are not in as bad of shape as us, but two of those three may possibly not make the tournament as an at large bid.

Times are changing and kids aren't drooling over going to the blue bloods anymore, so the way Cal moves forward and adapts is yet to be seen.

This doesn't look like a guy that is giving up on Kentucky's future......

                    Yeah, true.

In fairness, I think that conversation was a little premature because had we turned it around I think you would've seen far less apathy. (Obviously.) It doesn't take much. We were ready to revolt after Duke blew us out in the Herro year. Just a few months later the whole thing looked different.

Now however it's late in the game and I think many (most?) have just given up.

Also, I think that conversation had something to do with crazzed. Or mentioned him in some way. Listen, crazzed is constantly talking about packing it in. One of his big things for years has been some version of "I just can't follow this team anymore" along with some cherry-picked stats about how things are falling to hell. Crazzed's nuts with his fandom...but there are times that the average fan kind of becomes like crazzed. That's where most of us obviously are.

Please explain your thought that some of our players never bought into our program. While I'm the first to agree that many of our players have not lived up to their billing, I've not heard that they are not trying. I'm not criticizing you observation, just asking for some clarification.

I’ve noticed some effort things but mostly I don’t think we’ve got any good basketball players. They might be at some point but not now.

I have also wondered if there’s some locker room stuff happening. Don’t seem to be the most together bunch.

This is very accurate. Just not many pure basketball players...

Mintz is probably the most basketball savvy, and he's a 4 yr guy obviously. Allen has good awareness and instinct, but is lost at times, Sarr has great footwork and offensive skill, Askew tries, but is limited physically.... Boston has talent but lacks the awareness and physicality to be consistent at this level. Ware gives great effort but is raw, Clarke is just a slasher athletic wing searching for a jump shot, Toppin has some good ideas out there and is bouncy and aggressive, but hasn't out it all together yet, Jackson is a less refined Nerlens, Brooks tries to do too much, but has flashes....

Lol it's just a hodgepodge of incomplete players...

He hasn't lost me...yet. Mostly because I'm not sure who would be an upgrade that's actually interested in coaching here. And you're absolutely right that this year has been crappy for a lot of blue bloods.

But there's no question the last 5 years have been a downward slide where Cal's system doesn't work and there's scramble for players into June. The transfer portal has made Kentucky not unique here, but we're not supposed to be praying for these transfers every years like this. The style of play is also starting to look long in the tooth compared to how the game plays. If Cal can fix this then cool, but if not this isn't acceptable.
