Kentucky vs. North Carolina: Game Thread

Game is at 2:00 today on CBS. It's almost must-win time for the Cats.

Per social media, all four teams in the event today passed COVID tests and the game will happen as scheduled.

Surely we'll see improvement after 2 weeks of Camp Cal. Two half's of team play on both ends should at least put us in a situation to get a Win. GO CATS!!!

Kentucky has had monumental trouble guarding the three-pointer, especially when teams run any kind of screening action up top. We just don't handle screens well at all, which makes sense: physically weak and we don't help well at all, probably because we don't practice against a lot of screening action ourselves.

The good news about this game is that Carolina doesn't shoot the ball well, and they like to run. The methodical game Notre Dame was playing we won't see today.

The bad news is that Carolina has a fleet of big men, like they always do, so Isaiah Jackson can't get in foul trouble again. Need him to be out there. Don't think Ware and Toppin are ready for this action.

Watching Gonzaga beat Iowa, we might be seeing an undefeated college team right here. They have everything. Kind of the perfect college team really.

Basketball is very difficult when you can’t shoot the basketball. Missed at least half a dozen wide open shots. Best I have seen Ware play.

If he can add in a step back pump fake to that mid-range shot he can really do some damage.

I like how hard we played. Can't fault the effort.

One wild thing is how few transition baskets Kentucky gets. I've never seen a Cal team that has so much trouble turning defense and long rebounds into offense. We just have no one who can attack the basket effectively right now.

I like his mid range shot, it's when he penetrates to the basket he gets in trouble.
